Talia’s POV
The excitement that had danced across his face faded, replaced by a cloud of worry and disappointment. “Talia, I’m your mate. I’m Alpha Nolan of the Bloodmoon Pack.”
Mate? He couldn’t be serious. I just rejected Jason. There was no way he was my mate.
I stepped back, folding my arms tight against my chest. “You think I would fall for that?”
"Talia, I’m telling the truth. You're my mate," he repeated. "We've been mated for six years. We have two children."
"I've never seen you before in my life." I backed up another step. "Do you know what this looks like from where I'm standing? I woke up an hour ago in a hospital bed in your territory with a needle in my arm. Somebody brought me here from Silverfang. And now the Alpha of Bloodmoon is telling me we're mated."
"That isn't what happened.”
"Then start with the hospital. Why was I there? Did you drug me?”
"I just need you to trust me. This is going to take a while to explain.”
I scoffed. He was buying time. "I'm going home." I started walking backward toward the trees again. "And you should know my father is the Alpha King. If you took me out of Silverfang, he'll come for you, and you won't like it when he does."
I had expected anger. That was what I was braced for, and I knew what to do with it. Instead, he looked like I'd hit him, and he didn't say anything for a moment.
"Please," he begged. "Give me ten minutes. Then if you still want to go, I won't stop you. I'll walk you to the border myself."
Hearing him beg made my heart ache. I didn't know this man. He had no right to be able to do that to me, and my throat had gone tight looking at him anyway.
'He is telling the truth,' my wolf said.
'You can't know that.'
'I do know it.' She sounded stronger now. 'He is ours, Talia. I can feel him. Whatever else has happened to us, whatever we can’t remember, he is a part of it. He’s telling the truth.'
"Ten minutes," I agreed. "And you walk on that side of the path away from me."
"Whatever you want. Just please don't run."
It was a long walk back. I had run further than I realized, and by the time we came around the open ground and past the wall, my legs were shaking again, and I had to stop twice. Nolan didn't offer to carry me, and he didn't crowd me either. He just slowed down every time I did and waited without saying anything.
Nolan didn't take me to the party. There was a smaller room further down the same corridor, a quiet one with couches in it and a long window looking out at the gardens, and he took me in there instead.
"Sit down," he offered. "Please. There are people here who want to see you."

The readers' comments on the novel: Second Chance for the Barren Luna (Talia and Jason)
Talia is so stupid and brainless, why do they always need to be alone! She can't be left alone without getting kidnapped; this is just too tiresome. Does the author not have any new ideas other than Talia being kidnapped every 5 mins. To be honest they are all stupid for ever trusting Jason....
I really like this book however, it is getting too tiring of too much of the lack of use of common sense and repetitive motion of Talia being stubborn (stupid) to be caught/kidnapped so many times. I still do enjoy it just getting a little tiring. Thank you!...
I really appreciate the author taking the time to write this book! Keep up the good work. This has become my sweet treat to read before bed every night after I get my kids down. Keeps you on the edge waiting for what happens next! So adventurous and really compelling story line. Truly appreciate the hard work that it has taken to write something of this nature and level. Thank you author....
