Chapter 100
Killian’s voice halted her steps.
“Very well. Let the past be the past. I won’t hold it against you. But answer me one thing: after all this time, have you come to realize your mistakes? If so, then come home. There’s much that needs your attention.”
It was an ultimatum-her last chance to return to the
Frost family.
If she refused to bend, he would sever all ties and proceed with the arranged marriage to the Sullivan heiress.
Calista fell silent, regret washing over her for having
intervened at all.
People like them belonged behind bars.
If not for her concern over Olivia, she would never have
come.
She turned back, her tone measured and deliberate.
“Mg greatest mistake was ever falling for you and

agreeing to be your wife. Since our divorce, I’ve seen you for what you truly are—and I have never been
more certain that leaving was the right choice. Do you understand, Killian? I will never set foot in Frost Manor again.”
“Fine.” Killian’s expression darkened, a chill settling around him. He gave a slow, grim nod.
“Stay stubborn, then. When you have nothing left and nowhere to turn, don’t come crawling back to me.”
Offering no reply, she walked away and didn’t look back.
Stephanie watched her go, arms crossed tightly. Her eyes narrowed with bitterness before she spat on the ground, resentment seething within.
Calista had made her spend a night in a cell and humiliated her son.
This isn’t over.
Sooner or later, she’d find proof that Calista had been unfaithful during the marriage.

Back in his office, Killian immediately wrote down a license plate number and handed it to Edward. “Look into this.”
Edward took the paper, his face tense. “Sir, are you certain? We have no connections to the military. Could this… stir up unwanted trouble?”
“Look into it,” Killian repeated, unwavering.
“But the board would never approve such a risk.”
Killian paused, then softened his tone. “Consider
me merely a father concerned for his daughter’s
whereabouts. Be discreet. Ensure it cannot be traced back
to us.”
Seeing Edward’s hesitation, Killian offered rare
reassurance.
“Even if we draw attention, it won’t be a problem. The fact that my daughter was in that car means she holds the driver’s regard. She is our safeguard, not a liability.”

Understanding dawned on Edward, and his shoulders relaxed. “You had me worried, sir. With Ms. Frost’s connection, it should be manageable.”
Edward accepted the task and set to work.
He returned before long with a thin file folder, his expression grave.
“Mr. Frost, the owner of that vehicle… his background is
formidable.”
Killian took the folder. It was suspiciously light.
Of course the person behind a VIP 1 plate would be influential—that much was obvious.
He opened it himself. Inside lay a single, sparse photocopy of a vehicle registration form.
“Evander…” Killian repeated the name quietly, several times, before the realization struck him.
This was the most formidable figure of the Hayes family, the one whose name was spoken only in hushed tones.

Business associates had mentioned him-Evander held
a high military rank. Even without the Hayes family’s colossal wealth, the man stood at the absolute pinnacle of power and influence.
No wonder Edward had said the owner’s background/ was formidable. Evander Hayes-the very name was synonymous with power, the very connection Killian most desperately wanted to make.
He was startled. How could that car belong to Evander?
And even more baffling, how had his daughter ended up inside it?
Hayes…
Then it hit him. His daughter had called that pretty boy “Mr. Hayes.”
Could it be…
The paper in his hand crumpled under his white-knuckled grip, fingers trembling faintly.
“It can’t be him.”

Impossible!
How could Calista possibly have ties to someone of that stature?
