Chapter 32
Evander pulled out a tissue and slowly wiped his fingers.
Turning his head to look at Olivia calmly, he was surprisingly
honest. “Was it that obvious?”
“Yeah, totally obvious.”
Sending her to classes would leave Evander alone with her mom-how could that not be obvious?
Olivia blinked, her eyes bright and clear.
“But I’m really happy to study with Professor Wiseman, and I’m grateful to you. I’ll work hard!”
“Hearing you say that makes all the hardships your mother has endured over the years worth it.”
Olivia fell silent, studying the gentle yet powerful, handsome, and wealthy man beside her-someone who exuded strength
and success.
A man like him surely doesn’t lack female attention, right?

“Mr. Hayes, you’re not married and have no kids at your age… is there something wrong with you?”
If Evander was gay, she’d ask him to stay away.
If he had health issues, he’d be an even worse match for her
mom.
Evander froze mid-wipe, almost snapping his finger.
Olivia’s blunt tone reminded him of Calista’s brother, a
sharp-tongued, cold-hearted man.
A faint flush of embarrassment colored his perfectly sculpted
face.
“Can’t I be unmarried because I’ve never gotten the one I
love, and chosen to remain faithful?”
“Wow!” Olivia nodded, suddenly understanding.
Evander liked Calista-she could see it in his eyes.
But she respected Calista’s feelings more.
Just because someone liked Calista didn’t mean she had to 2/7

reciprocate.
Olivia said, “Mr. Hayes, I’m okay with my mom remarrying. But she hasn’t even escaped this hell yet-she definitely won’t jump into another one right away.”
“You’re right. She needs time,” Evander agreed.
Olivia noticed that Evander was truly respectful of others- even when talking to a kid like her, he listened carefully.
Unlike her father, who always thought he was smarter than everyone else and looked down on others as fools.
Sometimes Olivia couldn’t help wondering why Calista hadn’t chosen Evander over Killian when she was young.
“Mr. Hayes, please give my mom some time. Don’t pressure her, okay?”
Evander smiled warmly. Olivia’s concern was understandable.
He nodded solemnly. “Olivia, I’m glad you care so much about your mom. Helping you is something I’m happy to do -whenever you need me, I’ll be here. But rest assured, I’ll Réver use these favors to coerce your mom.”

What he wanted was Calista’s wholehearted consent.

He’d already waited twenty years-a little longer wouldn’t hurt.
Olivia gave him a thumbs-up, praising him sincerely, “A real
man!”
“Then I’ll leave it to you to test me anytime.”

Later that night, back at the hotel, a lamp on the desk cast a
warm glow as Calista sat bent over, writing something.
She was planning her and Olivia’s future life.
They could stay at the hotel for the next month, where three
meals a day were provided at the buffet, solving both their accommodation and food problems.
In a month’s time, she’d receive 50 million dollars.
If Calista chose to live a relaxed life, putting the money in the
bank to live off the interest would be more than enough to support her and Olivia comfortably for the rest of their lives. 4/7

But Calista wanted a better life for Olivia-one where, even without the Frost family, her daughter would have countless possibilities and choices.
She also wanted to rediscover herself after wasting half her life, to realize her own value.
Grabbing her pen, Calista quickly outlined how to use the
money.
Ten million dollars in a fixed-term bank deposit as a safety
net for their future-for Olivia’s house, car, or study abroad.
Ten million dollars in low-risk investments, with the monthly interest covering their daily expenses.
Twenty million dollars in project investments.
She was confident in her professional skills and judgment,
sure she wouldn’t lose money. With luck, Calista might even find a promising project that multiplies her assets tenfold.
The remaining 10 million dollars would be used to buy a
house.

school districts with nice surroundings.
But since it would just be the two of them, a smaller house
would be fine.
