Back in her car, Calista pulled Killian’s number off her blacklist and dialed.

The first call cut off after one ring.

The second lasted two seconds before going dead.

On the third try, she found herself blocked again.

With no other options, Calista drove to the Frost Group.

She’d already resigned, so without an employee ID, she couldn’t get past the lobby.

The receptionist recognized her but asked her to wait, explaining she needed to

check with the secretarial team before letting her upstairs.

The irony stung-she was the CEO’s wife, yet she needed permission just to see her own husband.

Eventually, Edward came down to fetch her. He led her to a conference room and gestured for her to sit.

“Mrs. Frost, feel free to share your concerns with me. Mr. Frost is in a meeting right now,” he said politely.

Calista didn’t know if the meeting was

real or an excuse. All she knew was that

only Killian could fix this.

Edward hesitated, then added, “Mrs. Frost, if this is regarding Transgar Construction Materials Factory, I’d advise you to head back.”

Calista stared at him. “Why? Divorce is personal; business is business. How can he take his anger out on innocent people?”

Edward replied, “Frankly, a small facility like Transgar Construction Materials Factory was never truly qualified to

partner with the Frost Group. Mr. Frost’s decision to reject substandard goods is within his rights.”

He paused, his gaze colder now, less respectful than it had once been.

“With all due respect, Mrs. Frost, when you chose to leave Mr. Frost, you should have accepted that you’d lose the privileges that came with being his wife.”

Calista took a slow, steady breath.

Edward’s words were Killian’s words-no

doubt passed down as a warning.

Closing her eyes briefly, Calista said, “Please call him. I just need two minutes

of his time.”

Edward shrugged, helpless.

Calista set her jaw, dropping the pretense.

“Edward, we both know Killian’s doing this to get a reaction from me. How am I supposed to give him that if you won’t connect us?”

Edward considered her words for a

moment, then nodded and pulled out his phone, dialing Killian’s number.

As soon as the call connected, Calista took the phone from him.

“It’s me.”

“Calista, enjoying the taste of being blocked?” Killian said, his voice cold with

malicious amusement.

Calista forced herself to stay calm, to reason with him.

“Killian, I’ve reviewed your delivery standards. The color variation in

Transgar’s tiles is minimal, well within the acceptable range. If you’re angry with me, take it out on me. Leave Christina out of this.”

Killian scoffed, the sound sharp and condescending.

“I’m the one who keeps her factory running. If she’s dumb enough to side with you, she’s making herself my

enemy.”

Calista exploded. “You!”

“Dare you deny she’s been helping you?” Killian pressed, his voice hardening.

Calista’s anger flared, but she reined it in. “You can deduct a fee for the minor discrepancy. No need to reject the entire order! Those tiles were custom-made to Frost Group’s specs, so no one else will buy them. Just stop working with them in the future if you’re that upset.”

Killian retorted, “Frost Group’s real estate reputation is non-negotiable. Even the smallest flaw is unacceptable. I’m not in the charity business.”

Calista paused, realizing arguing was useless. He was set in his ways.

She sighed, “Fine. If we can’t agree, transfer the 50 million dollars owed to me under our divorce settlement right now.”

Killian snapped. “Calista, I’m not foolish enough to let you use my money to bail out people who have nothing to do with me. I don’t have time for your games. You have thirty seconds.”

Calista gritted her teeth.
