Chapter 90
Bradley wasn’t exaggerating.
Killian had partnered with Prosperity Tech, injecting funds into their lithium-ion battery R&D, precisely because Frost Group was desperate to pivot. He’d gambled on emerging tech to salvage his fading empire.
Fortune favored the bold-and right now, no one knew who held the upper hand.
Susan, seeing through Killian’s motives, commented, “That’s why he’s in such a hurry to date-looking for an heiress to prop up his failing business. I can’t fathom what the Sullivan heiress was thinking, agreeing to meet
him.”
Bradley sneered, his disdain evident. Hadn’t Killian climbed the ranks using the Hartwell family’s resources?
A parasitic scumbag who abandoned others the second they outlived their use.
Bradley avoided the topic to spare Calista pain, but she knew the truth all too well.

The moment she’d cut ties with the Hartwell family, the Frosts-Killian included-had slowly changed their tune.
She’d lost her value, and their kindness vanished with it.
They’d sidelined her, confining her to the home like a bird in a gilded cage.
Curiosity pricked at her.
What lies and charms would Killian use to pursue
Sullivan heiress?

Meanwhile, at his booth, Stephanie grinned widely, practically preening as she greeted a young woman in a tailored Chanel-style suit approaching their table.
Killian’s gaze sharpened as the stranger drew near.
Sunglasses shielded her eyes, and wavy tresses cascaded down her back like silk. Even from a distance, an air of unyielding nobility emanated from her—spotless red-soled lambskin heels clicked against the floor, and a

rare-leather Hermès bag hung from her arm.
Her icy, unapproachable aura screamed, “I’m out of your league.”
Though Killian had never bought Calista luxury goods, he recognized the brands instantly.
Her outfit screamed that the Sullivan heiress took their meeting seriously-and that meant she was a prize worth winning.
He smiled, offering a gentlemanly gesture as he pulled out her chair.
The woman, clearly accustomed to such deference, sat down without a word of thanks, her posture straight and unyielding.
Stephanie chuckled, “My son’s never pulled out a chair for a woman before-not even his ex-wife.”
Facing the mother and son, the woman removed her sunglasses, casting a cool glance at Stephanie before speaking flatly.

“Is that so? Then his ex-wife is quite pitiful.”
Stephanie laughed awkwardly, scrambling to recover. “Ms. Sullivan, what I mean is-Killian thinks you’re very special.”
The woman ignored Stephanie’s feeble attempt at flattery, her red lips curving into a faint, cold arc as she spoke in a crisp, authoritative tone, “Allow me to introduce myself.
“I’m Fiona Sullivan, 37, single and unmarried. I assume you’re familiar with my family background. I currently serve as CEO of Sullivan Group.”
Fiona’s words were sharp and to the point-an aura forged by years of commanding boardrooms.
Stephanie and Killian exchanged a glance, both seeing the same thing: young, unmarried, accomplished, wealthy, and beautiful.
She was the perfect partner to propel him forward.
Mother and son reached the same conclusion instantly.

Killian kept his smile intact, pouring a glass of water for Fiona before speaking.
“I’m Killian Frost, 45. I’m sure they’ve filled you in—I have a 16-year-old son who lives with me.”
However, Fiona suddenly raised her hand, cutting him off sharply-like a superior dismissing a subordinate.
Killian, unused to being interrupted, felt a surge of annoyance mixed with discomfort; he was the one who gave orders, not the other way around.
Fiona frowned. “Your son lives with you-what about your mother?”
“She lives with my younger brother. No need to worry about her care-my sister, brother, and I share the responsibility equally.”
“Hmm.” Fiona tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her
tone indifferent.
Elderly care was never a concern-she could hire a team
of staff for that.

What she really wanted to know was the next question.
“You’re nearly 50. Why bring your mother to a blind date? Are you a mama’s boy, Mr. Frost?”
Caught off guard, Killian fell silent.
Stephanie waved her hands hastily, flustered: “He’s not -definitely not! A mama’s boy couldn’t build such a big company or manage so many people, right?”
“Then please step aside. I need to talk to Mr. Frost alone.” Fiona’s tone brooked no argument, her gaze sharp with impatience.
Stephanie stood up, her face flushing with
embarrassment as she stumbled over her words.
“Well… Ms. Sullivan, I just stayed to keep things from getting awkward between you two…”
Fiona picked up her bag and sunglasses, sliding the latter onto her nose as she made to stand-her message clear: either Stephanie left, or she did.
