The staff member answered honestly. “That’s Mr. Sterling’s wardrobe room.”
“Julian has a wardrobe here too?” Lucy asked. “But he doesn’t even live here.”
The staff member explained, “Most of the pieces inside are archival couture. They’re considered collectible.”
Both Lucy and Quinn studied fashion design, so they knew exactly what couture meant.
For most ordinary people, the first time they ever heard the term was probably through celebrities.

A star walking the red carpet, attending a gala, and wearing couture all sounded like symbols of status. But in reality, the definition wasn’t nearly that broad.
The luxury industry had developed much earlier overseas, and many historic brands sold more than clothing. They sold legacy and heritage.
The official couture associations only registered a few thousand clients worldwide.
Less than three thousand.
Among those people, aside from a few wealthy socialites who appeared on social media or occasional royal figures, most lived extremely low–profile lives.
Truly wealthy families rarely flaunted their money.
For example, someone capable of buying a superyacht would never post photos online announcing it.
Many of those family fortunes didn’t even appear on Forbes lists.
And now, Julian had an entire room filled with couture collectibles.
Lucy might not be obsessed with wearing expensive couture or rare jewelry, but what girl didn’t love beautiful clothes?
“Julian! Julian!”
Lucy called out when Julian returned after finishing a phone call. “Can we see that room? Even if it’s menswear, we’re still curious!”
The staff member looked toward Julian. Before Quinn and Lucy arrived, Julian had given instructions.
They were to be treated as honored guests. They could tour anything in the house.
Except the wardrobe room.
And technically, it wasn’t menswear. Julian walked over, phone still in his hand.
He had accompanied them during the tour the whole time, though his gaze occasionally drifted toward Quinn.

He had stepped away earlier to take a work call.
Now he approached and said simply, “No.”
“Huh?” Lucy looked stunned. “Come on! You let us see the jewelry. Why can’t we see the clothes? Let us take a look. Quinn, don’t you agree?”
Julian’s gaze shifted to Quinn. Of course Quinn was curious.
But the host had already said no. She would never push further.
Being invited to see the jewelry collection was already more than she expected. How could she ask for more?
She quickly said, “We haven’t even finished looking at the jewelry yet.”
Lucy pouted. “Fine.”

Julian drove them to a quiet street and stopped in front of a courtyard–style restaurant.
“This place is hard to find,” Lucy said while looking around. “You’ve never brought me here before.”
Julian replied, “There are plenty of places I haven’t taken you.”
Lucy linked her arm with Quinn. “So I’m only here because of Quinn?”
Julian glanced at her but said nothing.
Lucy understood immediately. That meant she should stop talking.
She quickly changed the topic, “Quinn, look. Those lantern lights are cute.”
Warm decorative lantern lights hung by the entrance, giving the place a festive glow. In Quinn’s mind, late–night food usually meant grabbing something quick.
She hadn’t expected Julian to bring them somewhere this elegant. The owner personally came out to greet them.
It didn’t seem strange to him that guests had arrived so late.
After they entered, Quinn realized the entire courtyard had been reserved. They were the only guests.
Julian recommended several dishes. It was late, so he suggested lighter options instead of heavy food.
Halfway through the meal, Lucy picked up her phone. “I need to take this call!”
