Julian said. “Your don’t trust me?”
Lucy hesitated. “It’s not that, I just.. I just think…”
She trailed off Julian gave a subtle signal.
A bodyguard stepped forward and guided Lucy away before she could argue again.
“Hey, I can walk-”
It made no difference. She was already being taken to the other car.
Julian got in.
Quinn was slumped against the door, her whole body limp, her breathing uneven, clearly uncomfortable but too out of it to adjust.
Julian reached over and pulled her closer, letting her rest against his shoulder.
She was already asleep.
Even so, she shifted slightly, her expression tightening. Still uncomfortable.
She moved again, slowly sliding downward, searching for a better position. Julian went still.
She had settled across his lap. The divider was already up, sealing off the back seat into a private space.
No one could see inside.
Julian let out a quiet breath. “You had a lot to say earlier. Now you’re this comfortable?”
He sounded annoyed, but there was no real force behind it. There was no way he was pushing her away.
If anything, this kind of unconscious closeness pulled at something in him.
If only she would come this close when she’s awake.
Through the thin fabric, he could feel the warmth of her face.
Her cheek rested against his thigh, far too intimate.

Then her hand lifted slightly, brushing her own face before dropping down and resting on his leg.
Julian closed his eyes briefly.
My self-control really doesn’t stand a chance around her.
