Second Marriage The Billionaire's Planned Love (Quinn and Julian) novel Chapter 182

Chapter 182 What She Won’t Say

“I’ve got you.” Lucy mid without hesitation. “You’re good. Drink if you want.”

Frihed

She slipped an arm around Quim’s shoulders, her voice lowering. “But seriously… talk to me. Something’s off. You don’t seem okay.”

Quinn shook her head, smiling lightly. “I’m fine I made it through the first round, I’ve got you, life’s good. I’m really okay.”

Some things couldn’t be said.

If Lucy were just her friend, maybe she could have opened up. But Lucy was also Julian’s family.

That changed everything.

At the end of the day, she was still married.

The divorce wasn’t finalized. And somehow, despite that, she had started to fall for someone else.

That’s not something I can admit. Not out loud. Not to anyone.

So she said nothing.

And Lucy could only sit there, watching her drink, glass after glass.

Even the bartender stepped in.

“I’ll be honest,” he said, “these aren’t super strong, but at this pace, it’s going to hit you.”

Lucy sighed. “It’s okay. If she wants to get drunk, just let her.”

Quinn wasn’t saying anything, but Lucy could feel it. Something was weighing on her.

They had never kept things from each other before.

If Quinn was holding back now, it meant this wasn’t something she could share.

Lucy didn’t push. She just stayed.

After that, Lucy switched to juice, keeping her company while Quinn kept drinking.

And somehow, it reminded her of the night before. Julian had been the exact same way.

Do people who are hurting all drink like that?

That thought lingered as she quietly picked up her phone, snapped a picture of the drinks, and sent it

over.

Lucy sent a message, “Out with a friend tonight. No alcohol for me. Being responsible for once.”

She didn’t expect anything back.

Julian wasn’t exactly glued to his phone. A while later, her phone buzzed.

Julian replied. “What?”

Lucy smiled and typed back.

Lucy replied, “Told you, I’m behaving. Proud of me?”

A reply came almost immediately.

Julian replied, “With Quinn?”

Lucy replied, “Yeah”

Julian replied, “Where are you?”

Lucy sent a location pin.

Julian replied, “She drinking?”

Lucy looked up.

Quinn had her head slightly lowered, her expression hidden, but it didn’t take much to tell.

She wasn’t okay. Lucy typed slower this time.

Lucy replied, “Yeah. And she’s not in a great place. I don’t know what’s going on.”

After that, nothing.

No reply.

Lucy didn’t think much of it. The fact that he responded at all was already unusual.

Then she suddenly remembered. The piece Quinn had asked her to pass along was still sitting in her bag.

She had completely forgotten last night.

She’d have to give it to him another time.

Looking back at Quinn, she said softly, “Seriously, slow down. You’re going to feel awful later.”

Quinn’s cheeks were flushed now, her voice softer, slightly unsteady. “It’s fine… honestly, maybe this is what I need.”

Lucy frowned. “Whatever it is, you tell me, okay? I’ll figure it out with you.”

Quinn smiled. “Relax. I’m okay. Things are looking up. Next round, then the divorce… after that, nothing’s going to get to me anymore.”

Lucy immediately lifted her glass. “That’s right. To your win, and to finally being free.”

By the time her words started running together, Lucy leaned in. “Okay, we’re leaving. Let’s go home.”

Right then, someone tapped her shoulde

She turned around and froze.

“Julian? What are you doing here?”

Julian’s expression didn’t change. “Was nearby. Figured I’d stop in.”

Lucy’s heart dropped.

She immediately stepped in front of Quinn, instinctively shielding her. “She doesn’t want to see you.”

Now it hit her. He came because of the messages.

“Julian… can we talk over there?”

She gestured awkwardly. Julian glanced past her.

Quinn was slumped over the table, cheek resting against her arm, clearly past tipsy.

He stepped aside with Lucy, but kept Quinn within his line of sight.

“What is it?”

Lucy took a breath, forcing herself to stand her ground. “I know you’re interested in her. But she doesn’t feel the same way. Don’t push her, okay?”

Lucy had grown up around wealth, the kind where everything looked polished on the surface but rarely. held together the way people imagined. She did not spend much time around the older generation, but she had seen enough to understand how things really worked.

From the outside, those marriages looked perfect.

Behind closed doors, a lot of them were anything but.

Even if Julian and Clara got engaged, even if they eventually got married, there was a real possibility they would live their own separate lives without anyone asking questions.

Julian reacted instantly, stepping toward her.

Lucy froze for a second, then hurried after him, this time not daring to argue anymore.

When she saw him helping Quinn up, she rushed closer. Julian!”

Lucy still felt uneasy. “You don’t have to, I can take Quinn

She stopped mid-sentence.

Julian looked at her.

That was enough. The rest of her words disappeared.

Julian tried to guide Quinn forward, but her body had gone completely slack, her weight sinking with no support.

Lucy moved in to help, but before she could reach her, Julian bent down and lifted Quint into his arms in one smooth motion.

Lucy stared, stunned.

Since when does he do that for anyone?

There was something unexpectedly intense about the way he held her.

Then reality hit.

Quinn is going to lose it when she wakes up.

Lucy snapped out of it and hurried after them. Julian moved quickly, and by the time she got outside, Quinn was already in the car.

Lucy reached for the door, but Julian stopped her.

“Take the car behind us.”

“Julian!”

She immediately protested. “I just said—”

“I need to talk to her,” he said, cutting her off. “Take the other car.”

r

“She’s completely drunk,” Lucy said, frowning. “What are you even going to say? You’re not planning to take advantage of-”

She did not finish. She did not need to.

Julian looked at her. Lucy instantly backed down.
