"Did Ingrid tell you the truth?" Ned asked.
Simon shook his head.
Remembering Simon had a meal with Angeline frequently, Ned gulped and then asked, "So… it was Angie?"
"Not Angie, either." Simon looked at Ned with jealousy. "Angie has always kept her promise—especially her promises with you.
"I guess she never mentioned it to me because she had promised you to keep it a secret. If it wasn't for Marvonia's Minister of Commerce's visit to Ica, she would've probably stopped Danny from telling me you're her ex-husband."
Simon sipped his coffee before continuing, "You're a lucky man, Mr. Fletcher. Not only do you have a love of an exceptional woman like Angie, but you also have a kind, charismatic woman like Ingrid who loves you unconditionally. It's as if you're the chosen one!"
Ned's eyes turned red. He picked up his cup of coffee with shaking hands and took a sip. "But alas, I've thrown this love given by God away. Angie… she doesn't love me anymore."
"But Ingrid still does, doesn't she? She even begged me because of you." Simon envied Ned. "If there's a woman who would go this far for me, and I mean for who I am instead of my status as the second son of the Norwalk family, I'll be in euphoria!"
Simon was born into a family of power struggles. His parents were married for business, so he had never experienced true love stemming from outside of his family status.
Simon emitted a sense of romance from that of a cultured youth. Deep down in his heart, he had been searching for the most genuine, pure love for his own, even amidst the power struggle.
