AN AGREEMENT?
"Do we really have to make Daeho Hyung sign this agreement, Hyung?" Gong Hanseo asked worriedly while reading the documents that Seong Kyungmin handed to him. "It sounds like we don’t trust Daeho Hyung to keep his word." He raised his head, looking at his lover curiously. "In the first place, we already have to sign an agreement with the agency. This seems excessive."
"I understand what you’re worried about, babe. But we can’t solely trust the contract that we have with Kang Daeho and the agency," Seong Kyungmin said gently. "You know that the agreement we have with them is illegal. So, we need a more concrete agreement that will make it hard for Kang Daeho to go back on his word."
Oh.
Gong Hanseo’s brain understood that, of course.
However, he still felt bad.
"I trust Daeho Hyung..."
"Yes, I know. But that won’t help us in court in case something happened, babe."
Haaah.
"Don’t worry, babe. The agreement also states that we’ll have to compensate Kang Daeho generously in case we change our mind about adopting his unborn baby."
"That won’t happen, Hyung."
"Yes, I know. I’m just saying. The agreement needs to be as fair as possible to every party involved."
But the agreement wasn’t really "fair."
This is why contracts are scary.
"Babe, my father helped us pull strings for this," Seong Kyungmin said. "He was the one who insisted on making a separate agreement with Kang Daeho to ensure that everything will go smoothly."
Gong Hanseo beamed. "Oh, Father-in-law helped us?"
"Yes. As you already know, my father likes you. He doesn’t care that you’re a Beta, and he doesn’t mind if we adopt a child completely unrelated to us."
"I wish Mother-in-law were the same."
"Abeoji assured me that he’ll talk to Eomma."
That was a relief.
Mother-in-law is scary, but Father-in-law has always been kind and supportive to me from the beginning of my relationship with Kyungmin Hyung.
So, if it was his father-in-law who arranged that agreement, then...
"Alright. I’ll ask Daeho Hyung to sign this contract," Gong Hanseo said. "Hyung, don’t you think it’s about time you properly meet Daeho Hyung?"
Seong Kyungmin paused for a moment, and then he nodded. "Actually, you’re right— I need to meet him since I’m planning to transfer him to our hospital."
"Oh?"
"If we want the baby to be born safely and healthy, we need to take care of Kang Daeho."
"Of course."
Seong Kyungmin pointed at the documents. "As you can see, the agreement states that we’ll take care of everything Kang Daeho needs until he gives birth to the baby. According to my investigation, Kang Daeho lost a lot of money after his divorce. In fact, he’s currently living in a studio apartment. The neighborhood isn’t exactly ideal for a single, pregnant Omega like him."
That was something that Gong Hanseo didn’t know.
"Hyung, you ran a background check on Daeho Hyung?"
"Yes," Seong Kyungmin said while nodding. "Ah, I can see why you’re upset. But it was necessary, Hanseo-ya. I know that he was your college sunbae. However, it had been many years since you saw last each other, right? I’m sure that there are things that he cannot tell you."
"And that makes it right for us to run a background check on him?"
"Again, it is necessary, babe. But don’t worry. We didn’t dig that deep. The only information we extracted are those related to the baby."
"I’m not sure I’m liking this situation, Hyung."
"Well, this happens when you do illegal things."
Gong Hanseo couldn’t argue anymore since it was him who wanted to adopt Kang Daeho’s baby so badly.
Hyung is just doing this to ensure that there won’t be a problem.
"Okay, I understand, Hyung," Gong Hanseo said while nodding. "Thank you."
Seong Kyungmin smiled and nodded. "I have free time today," he said while checking his watch. "Should we go and meet Kang Daeho?"

GONG HANSEO and Seong Kyungmin drove to the studio apartment where Kang Daeho currently lived alone.
He didn’t expect Kang Daeho to live in such a shabby place.
The apartment complex was in a shady neighborhood, too.
How did this happen to Daeho Hyung? If I remember correctly, Hyung is from a decent family. Yes, I know that Daeho Hyung is too old to depend on his parents. But how could they let him live like this when he’s pregnant and newly divorced?
"According to the report I received, his parents were against Kang Daeho divorcing his husband. That bastard Alpha is the son of a medium-sized construction company, and Kang Daeho’s parents worked for them. That’s why Kang Daeho’s parents disowned him after the divorce to keep their jobs," Seong Kyungmin explained, his eyes glued to the road as he was driving. "Unfortunately, Kang Daeho doesn’t have his own source of income. Ever since he married his husband, he became a house husband without money of his own."
"Didn’t Daeho Hyung get alimony after the divorce?"
"They signed a prenup before they got married, so the bastard Alpha only paid the minimum amount of alimony that he was required to give Kang Daeho."
"Fucking scumbag."
Seong Kyungmin nodded in agreement. "That’s why we have to convince Kang Daeho to move to the place that we prepared for him."
"Yes, Hyung," Gong Hanseo said while nodding. "Leave it to me."

They’re the same age, but they chose to speak formally. Which isn’t surprising since they’re not close enough to be speaking casually to each other.
This is actually better than the studio apartment I had when I was in college.
He made the space look bigger than it actually is.

He’s only warm and gentle to people he cares about.
