“I’ll make some room for her,” she said. “I’ll just need a signed release from the hospital. Considering Gavin is a Lycan Chairman, we don’t need a signed release from the Churchill family.”

I nodded, relieved that I didn’t need to seek out anyone else in that family. I had had enough of them for one lifetime.

“I’ll go with you to get that release,” I said, reluctantly stepping away from Judy. “Will you be okay here alone for a minute?”

She nodded, giving me a small smile.

“Thank you for doing this,” she said softly.

I tucked a dark strand of hair behind her ears and cupped her face gently.

“I’ll do anything for you,” I told her before I pressed my lips to hers, soaking her in.

She melted against me, deepening the kiss slightly before pulling back; her cheeks were flushed, and my God, she was beautiful.

I pulled away again and went with Eliza to the nurses' station. There were a couple of women standing behind the counter area, seemingly gossiping and chuckling about something that had nothing to do with work. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at them; if they were in my pack, I would have fired them by now.

But this was neutral territory, which meant I couldn’t touch them. Instead, I put my hands on the counter and glared at them.

“If you two are done spreading gossip, I need a signed release form for Megan Churchill,” I said, startling them both.

One of them widened her eyes.

“Holy shit, that’s Gavin Landry,” she said, her voice raspy with fear and shock.

“The most powerful Lycan Chairman?” The other one asked, her eyes just as wide.

“Yes…” The first girl said, her voice coming out barely above a whisper now. “I’ve seen him in magazines…”

“And is that Eliza Pierce?” The other asked. “She’s one of the best doctors in the world. What is she doing in a small hospital like this?”

“How about you ladies stop asking each other questions and just do what I asked,” I said, my patience running thin. “We don’t have a lot of time, and we’d like to get out of here sooner than later.”

“Yes, of course,” the first girl said, bowing her head slightly. “I’m Jamie… and this is my coworker, Abby.”

“Yeah, we don’t care,” I said, not caring that I sounded like a dick. “We are in a hurry.”

Jamie nodded quickly, tucking a strand of her red hair behind her ear.

“Of course, Alpha. I’m so sorry for the wait,” she said as she hurried over to the computer to type up the release form.

His eyes widened even more as he took in the paper I was holding.

“I’m afraid the Churchill’s forbid me to release her,” he said. “They paid—”

“Whatever they paid, I’ll double it,” I said without hesitation. “Just send the bill to my beta, and we will have it covered.”

His jaw dropped.

“Are you sure, Alpha?” He asked. “Megan isn’t really worth all that money.”

“She’s important to my mate, which means she’s important to me,” I said. “Sign the papers.”

I wasn’t giving him a choice.

He took the pen I was holding and scribbled his signature across the page. I snatched it back and turned to leave. Eliza followed me, keeping her head down.

“You should be warned, Alpha,” Dr. Lipton called after me. “Megan Churchill is dangerous. If she were to ever come out of this coma… I worry about what she will do to this world.”

His words made me pause for a moment, but I didn’t say anything in return. I continued to walk away. I needed to get back to my mate.
