Judy’s POV

“That’s me?” Irene asked, stepping closer to the glowing green images.

Her eyes were wide with wonder as she stared at her green self. She was seated on the couch, tucked under the green image of Chuck, who was smiling down at her. Their eyes were locked. A green smoky haze was pouring from his eyes and into hers, and she was leaning further into him.

“Yes,” Esme answered, breaking through the silence that consumed us.

I stepped closer as well, my eyes fixed on the images in front of us, and as if they could tell that I was there, they both turned to look at me. My breathing hitched, and I felt my body tingling with the magic that surrounded me. Then, in unison, both images rose.

Irene took a step back, worried about what was going to happen, but I wasn’t afraid. I knew exactly what was going to happen. With easy steps, I walked towards them, keeping my head held high. I knew exactly what I needed to do; this was magic that was standing in front of me, and I was the host.

The words of the Moon Goddess surfaced in my mind: she told me to put faith in myself and my magic; my magic told me to trust it. That’s exactly what I was planning on doing.

I reached my hand out once I was only inches from the magic, and they both reached theirs out as well, mimicking my movements. And then we clasped hands; the glow was so bright I had to squint to see appropriately. It was radiating both the green light of the curse and my white glow, mixing into something entirely different.

Suddenly, the green faded away, replaced by a soft white glow around each of them. I could see the outlines of smiles on their faces, and then they released their hold on my hand. I stepped back, allowing them space to move freely.

These two magical entities… essence of the curse… had been trapped here the entire time, and now I was setting them free.

They both stepped around me; silence took over the room as everyone watched in awe, even Irene was stunned silent, watching herself move towards Chuck, who was growing restless and aggravated, but couldn’t move.
