Lilian refused to let Noelle accompany them.

Jane had been her sister-in-law for decades. How could she not know what Lilian was thinking?

She said, “Noelle, we won’t be going far. We’ll just take a drive around the area. Give us the car keys.”

After hesitating for a moment, Noelle said, “I’ll ask Mr. Laurence first.”

Then she walked to the side, called Laurence, and spoke to him quietly for a few moments.

Laurence said, “Then let them go out. If you’re really worried, you can secretly follow them with some people. Personally, I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. Even if Manny sent people to forcibly invite them over, the two of them would probably welcome it.”

Noelle was stunned.

“Haven’t you figured it out yet? The moment you said it was dangerous for them to go out and that they might get abducted, they didn’t want you to come along. They’re clearly trying to act as bait.”

“You don’t need to worry about that either. Mom has the entire Johnson family behind her. Even though the two cities are far apart, the Johnsons are related to the O’Connor family in Satbury. Unless Manny is a complete fool, he wouldn’t dare do anything serious to Mom.”
