The bodyguard did not know where Manny was going, but it likely had to do with antiques.
Laurence had made it clear that once he moved into the ancestral estate, he would hire experts to authenticate every decorative piece inside. They would verify each item whether anything had been replaced. If they discovered any authentic pieces were missing, he would report it to the police.
Tony's family was now in a difficult position.
If they did not spend a fortune buying back the genuine antiques they had sold, Laurence would report them to the police. They would be charged with theft, and given the enormous value of the items involved, they could face severe sentences.
However, buying back the antiques would cost them a great deal of money. They also had to do it in secret without Laurence finding out. If he caught them in the act, he would send them to prison all the same.
Laurence did not return just to become the head of the Longbottom family, for he had also come to avenge his family.
What he wanted the most was to see every member of Tony's family be punished by the law. He would make sure that none of Tony’s accomplices who had helped kill the previous head and his family escaped justice.
Most of the wealthiest Longbottoms had prospered because they sided with Tony back then. They were all Laurence's enemies.
In short, Tony's family had been backed into a corner. After discussing the situation, Tony told Manny to secretly buy back the genuine antiques they had sold.
As for the antiques he had collected in his own villa, he had no choice but to quietly move them back to the ancestral estate and restore them to their original places.
Even that had to be done in secret. Laurence must not find out.
"Keep watching him. Take photos when Manny makes a deal with someone. After he leaves, go to the buyer and get the full story. Collect receipts and any other evidence, but don't alert Manny.
"Make sure the buyers keep their mouths shut too. Don't let them tell Manny anything.
"When he goes back to buy the final antiques, notify me. I'll go there and catch him red-handed. He'll be in big trouble when I show him all the evidence."
If Laurence could get dirt on Manny, then the rest of Tony's family would not escape unscathed.
Laurence had not made any changes after taking over as the new head of the family, but it was not because he did not want to. He was biding his time and waiting to strike with one decisive move.
