After calming everyone down, Eliza finally had a chance to step outside to check the situation.
By eight–thirty, more and more people were arriving, though all of them were heading to the Flying event.
And just her luck, Eliza ran straight into Tyler as soon as she stepped out.
Tyler looked a little embarrassed.
When Eliza had sent him an invitation earlier, he had made an excuse, saying he was too busy to attend.
Now that he’d been caught in person, he was awkward and didn’t know how to explain.
Before he could say anything, Eliza spoke first.
“Mr. Tyler, you must be on your way to the Flying celebration banquet, right? Just turn left out the door–their venue is over there.”
Tyler didn’t know whether to laugh or not. He scratched his head awkwardly.
“Uh, President Grant, I’ll make some time to swing by your press conference later and show some support.”
It was just polite talk, and Eliza didn’t take it seriously.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Tyler quickly left.
Just then, her phone rang–it was Grayson. Eliza answered in a hurry.
She hadn’t told him about the ASKHEART press conference, but somehow he’d heard about it and was calling to ask.
Eliza only shared the good news and left out the bad, telling him everything was going smoothly.
“That’s good,” Grayson said, relieved.
The moment she hung up, Gideon showed up.
He could have gone directly to the Flying banquet outside, but he deliberately came inside first.
His purpose was obvious–he was here just to mock Eliza.
“Well, well, what kind of press conference is this? Not a single person around. Just entertaining yourself?”
Eliza couldn’t even be bothered to answer.
Gideon came with quite a show, followed by several men carrying a giant bouquet of sunflowers.
He had chosen them on purpose.
Didn’t Josh send Eliza sunflowers at the summit before?
Then he would send them too ten times bigger.
The display was over the top, the message clear: Eliza wasn’t even in the same league as Medea.
“Make way, make way!” The men carrying the flowers shouted, then shoved Eliza aside.
She stumbled from the push and slammed into the glass door behind her with a loud thud. The impact left her seeing stars.

Gideon glanced over and said blandly, “Oh, sorry, didn’t see you there. If you’ve got a problem, contact me. I’ll cover your medical expenses.”
His tone carried no sincerity.
Of course, a bump like that wasn’t worth medical compensation. He had done it just to disgust her.
Eliza was about to respond when her phone rang again.
It was Charlie. She quickly answered.
On the line, Hou said he’d be bringing some students from the university to the press conference for learning purposes, asking if she could host them.
“Of course, Professor Jameson! Please feel free to bring them over. Once you arrive, just call me and I’ll come meet you.”
“Alright.”
Charlie was a professor at a top university’s Department of Computer Science and Technology, a PhD advisor, a member of the national key R&D program’s robotics expert group, and also the vice president of the Artificial Intelligence Association.
His attendance at the press conference would be a tremendous boost for ASKHEART.
So no, the event wouldn’t be deserted.
Eliza was just about to return inside to share the good news with Enzo when Josh arrived.
She had assumed he’d be attending the Flying banquet.
After all, his relationship with Medea wasn’t the same as with others.
So she pointed him in the right direction. “The Flying banquet is on the left.”
Josh/smiled. “I came for the ASKHEART press conference.”
Then, with a teasing lilt, he added, “What, are you trying to send me away?”
“I just thought you’d be at the banquet.”
“No. Today I’m here only for the ASKHEART press conference–nothing else.” His words were deliberate, meant to show his intention..
But Eliza only took it as him attending in his capacity as an investor and didn’t think much of it.
“President Kallis, please, come in.” She personally led the way.
Watching her back, Josh sighed helplessly.
Still as oblivious as back in their student days.
If it weren’t for the fact that she had just ended a seven year–long relationship and was exhausted physically and emotionally and needed time to
recover…
He would have stopped hiding long ago.
Well, after waiting seven years, what was another day or two?
At least now she was throwing herself fully into her career instead of collapsing after heartbreak.
Meanwhile-
At the Flying banquet, Gideon made a flashy entrance, his giant sunflower bouquet impossible to ignore.

When Medea saw the sunflowers, she instantly understood the message and smiled.
“Thank you, really. You being here is more than enough–you didn’t need to go to such expense.”
That, she thought, was what real generosity and vision looked like.
Gideon admired her even more, convinced she had all the makings of a wealthy family’s matriarch.
“I’m here to back you up, of course I had to go all out! And here, this is for you.”
He presented a diamond necklace–expensive, though not as lavish as the jewelry she was already wearing. Still, it was a big gesture.
“Thank you.”
