The room was silent for a long time, and the air seemed to have frozen.
He, Calvin, stared at her coldly, his dark eyes full of disdain and chill.
After a moment, he spoke, his voice colder than the night itself, “Is it because of Josh?”
Eliza’s mind went blank for a second, unable to catch up with his words.
It wasn’t until she saw the contempt and sneer in his eyes that she finally understood his unspoken implication.
So, in Calvin’s eyes, Eliza was this kind of person!
How ridiculous.
She wasn’t sure if it was because of the recent drop in temperature.
After taking a deep breath, Eliza felt as if her organs had frozen over.
It was a bone–chilling cold.
How could he?
He was the one who had changed first!
He was the one who had betrayed her!
So why was he now throwing the blame on her?
The chilling bitterness kept her rational. She heard herself calmly retort to Calvin, “I learned it from you, didn’t I? Seamless connections are quite interesting.”
Recently, colleagues had noticed a change in Eliza, the model secretary. She was different from before.
Not only did she start arriving at work on time, but her dress and appearance were also noticeably different.
She looked radiant, which baffled everyone.
After all, in everyone’s eyes, she had been unsuccessful in both her career and love life.
Although Calvin had never publicly acknowledged their relationship, everyone could tell.
Now that the real fiancée had returned, everyone expected Eliza to be depressed.
But she acted as if nothing had happened, continuing her work, and there was no sign of sadness or distress.
On the contrary, Calvin had become a bit strange.
He, the one who should be the happiest with both love and career, had been walking around with a gloomy face every day.
The entire executive office was filled with tension.

Chapter 31
Apart from the director of the third department, Medea, all the investment directors from other departments had been thoroughly scolded.
In the past, when something like this happened, everyone would turn to Eliza for help.
Because, out of everyone in the company, only Eliza could tolerate Calvin’s temper, and she knew how to calm his anger. She was always able to put out the fire.
But this time, Eliza had turned down every request.
Matilda, the director of the second department, was almost in tears, “Miss, please help me, I really have no way out.”
“Sorry,” Eliza said as she turned off her computer, making her stance clear to Matilda. “I can’t help you.”
“Secretary Grant, Secretary Grant…”
Eliza ignored him, and as usual, after dropping off the files that Calvin needed to handle personally, along with a new resignation letter, she left
work on time.
Matilda was pacing anxiously.
If Calvin didn’t approve the funds soon, the project he was handling would be scrapped.
He was relying on this project to have a prosperous year!
“Amanda, you’re pretty close to Secretary Grant, right? Go ask her for help!”
Matilda was desperate and sent his subordinate Amanda to beg Eliza for help.
Amanda was the one who had once made sarcastic comments about Eliza during a team–building event.
Amanda was too scared to agree.
She had drunk too much that day and forgot to block Eliza on Facebook. Although she had immediately blocked her after being reminded by colleagues, she always felt that Eliza had seen it.
Otherwise, why was Eliza so indifferent when she tried to ask her for help these days?
When there was an issue, Eliza would directly reject her.
Unlike before, when Eliza would kindly point out her mistakes and even offer suggestions on how to improve.
“What are you looking at? Go now!” Matilda tugged at his hair in frustration. “If this project doesn’t go through, not just you, even I’ll have to
leave!”
Hearing how serious the situation was, Amanda didn’t dare to delay any longer. “I think it might be better to ask Director Wynn.”
“Then go!”
Amanda had tried to curry favor with Director Medea during the team building event, so there was a bit of a rapport between them.
When Amanda found Medea, she immediately agreed without hesitation.
“I was just about to talk to Calvin. I’ll handle this file for you!”
“Thank you so much, Director Wynn!” Amanda was extremely grateful.
“We’re colleagues, no need to be so polite. Perhaps one day I’ll need your help too.”

Chapter 31
Amanda immediately pledged, “Feel free to ask anytime.”
Medea ‘s smile deepened.
She was very skilled at winning people over.
She had just been appointed to Everest, and in order to discredit Eliza’s achievements, she had canceled all the projects Eliza had previously worked on.
Now, with no good projects in hand, she naturally had to set her sights on something else.
Amanda had no idea that by approaching Medea, she was walking right into a trap.
When Medea went to find Calvin, he had just finished an online meeting and looked particularly cold.
She didn’t knock but pushed the door open directly. Just as she was about to speak, Calvin said, “Eliza, make me a cup of coffee.”
She paused for a moment, remained silent, and turned to leave the office to prepare the coffee.
When she returned, Calvin was still busy.
She quietly pushed the coffee over.
Calvin took a sip, then frowned. “Your coffee–making skills have gotten worse?”
When he looked up, he realized the person wasn’t Eliza, but Medea.
“Is it bad?” Medea asked, a little aggrieved.
Calvin remained silent for a moment. “No.”
Although he said that, Calvin didn’t touch the cup of coffee again, and instead asked what Medea wanted.
“This is an urgent document from the second department. It needs your attention.”
“Why are you the one delivering it? Where is Eliza?” Calvin frowned again, his tone clearly displeased.
“She seems to have left work.”
Calvin paused in his actions.
