Eliza couldn’t help but hold her breath.

She hadn’t expected it to be this easy.

Maybe Calvin didn’t care whether she stayed or left at all.

That meant, aside from paying the penalty or getting Calvin’s mercy to approve her resignation, she had no other options.

This discovery left Eliza feeling hopeless.

The impulsive decision from back then now turned into regretful tears.

People truly have to pay for the reckless decisions of their youth.

If she couldn’t fight directly, she’d just lie flat and let this capitalist pay to keep her as an idle person!

Eliza closed her computer at the exact time and left work on time.

As soon as she entered the elevator, Calvin’s call came in.

It was as if he had timed it perfectly and he didn’t call her work landline, but her mobile phone.

Looks like, from now on, she not only had to time when she shut down her computer, but also when to turn off her phone.

Reluctantly, Eliza answered.

Calvin’s cold voice came through. “We have a meeting in ten minutes.”

Eliza paused before replying, “Mr. Young, I’ve already clocked out.”

She could almost imagine how bad Calvin’s expression was at that moment.

But what did it matter?

She couldn’t see it anyway!

So as soon as she finished speaking, Eliza hung up without hesitation.

All the frustration of the afternoon was finally alleviated at this moment.

Although this feeling of relief was only temporary, a little relief was still relief!

If Calvin wouldn’t let her go, then he had to be ready to accept her ‘protest.‘

Eliza felt a brief sense of satisfaction, and just as she stepped out of the company, she ran into someone familiar.

It was Josh.

“What’s wrong?” Josh noticed Eliza standing at the door, staring at the sign, and couldn’t help but ask.

Eliza shook her head, “Nothing.”

“This dress shop is quite famous in Washington. I’m not sure if they have a style you like though.”

Josh must have contacted the shop owner in advance, as they were greeted warmly by the store manager as soon as they walked in.

“These are our newest arrivals,” the manager said, showing them with great enthusiasm.

Eliza picked out a light purple dress, ready to try it on.

But then the manager received a phone call, and her expression changed. After a brief hesitation, she said, “Sorry, this dress has already been reserved by another client.”

Eliza didn’t mind and chose another one.

With her great figure, she looked good in anything, so it didn’t take long before she had picked out a dress.

Noticing the time, Josh suggested they grab a meal together.

In fact, Eliza had been planning to suggest it herself, so it was perfectly in sync.

As soon as they left the shop, Calvin and Medea arrived at Luxe Atelier.

The two cars almost passed each other.

It was Medea who recognized Josh’s car first. “That looks like Josh’s car.”

After a pause, she added, “Why is Eliza with him again? They seem to be getting pretty close lately. Is Secretary Grant skipping overtime to meet

Josh?”

“No wonder she’s so eager to resign, she’s probably found a better opportunity.” Medea ‘s contempt for Eliza was obvious.

Calvin didn’t comment, seeming uninterested in Eliza’s matters.

This made Medea think that maybe she had overthought it during lunch.

Calvin hadn’t approved Eliza’s resignation, perhaps it was really just about the contract.

After all, setting a precedent could make other employees with contracts think differently.

The dress Medea was trying on was the exact one Eliza had first picked.

It was also the one Calvin had asked the manager to reserve for Medea.

This made Medea feel that Calvin was paying special attention to her.

But after trying it on, she wasn’t very satisfied.

“Calvin, I think this one’s not as good as the white one from the company. Though this one’s not bad either.”

Though Calvin’s attention was on his phone, he responded to Medea as usual. “Then keep both. You can wear whichever you like, or change in

the middle if you want.”

Medea beamed. “Calvin, you spoil me so much!”

As soon as Eliza and Josh arrived at the restaurant, her phone rang.

It was Ottilie calling.

Eliza thought there was an emergency at the hospital and quickly answered.

But Ottilie asked why she wasn’t at the hospital with Calvin.

Eliza was stunned.
