It was faster than she had imagined, but Eliza felt that it was a good thing.

However, it also subtly revealed that, for the past seven years, Calvin had never thought about developing any normal relationship with her.

Eliza took out her earphones from her bag, putting them on to block out the noise from the outside world.

The people in the row in front were still talking.

The man was incessantly asking his girlfriend, Vivian Walker, about Calvin’s situation to make future connections.

“So, your cousin is pretty much married now, right? After all, he’s Calvin, and behind him is the entire Young Group!”

Vivian couldn’t help but feel proud. “Yes, it’s a marriage of status, but my cousin’s boyfriend loves her with all his heart! I even heard that he waited for her for seven years! Isn’t that so devoted? Love can make up for all the gaps.”

“Then your cousin’s family is going to soar to the top.”

The man said, clearly envious.

“I’m very close to my aunt. My cousin’s rise means my rise. Once I become the chief secretary at Everest, what resources will you not have? All you’ll need is my word!”

Vivian’s boyfriend fully believed her.

After all, with Vivian’s education and qualifications, she wouldn’t have been able to enter Everest.

But after Medea mentioned her to Calvin, she successfully entered without even a formal interview.

This showed just how much Calvin loved Medea, so much so that he unconditionally accepted her family and friends.

Enzo furrowed his brows tightly when he heard this.

He looked at Eliza with concern, debating whether to interrupt the conversation.

But he noticed that Eliza wasn’t affected by them at all–after putting on her earphones, she calmly went to sleep.

Her response was surprisingly calm.

Despite this, Enzo kicked the row ahead and gently reminded them to speak quietly to avoid disturbing other passengers.

Vivian, though displeased, kept quiet, recognizing that she was in the wrong in this public space.

The plane landed in Los Angles at night.

It seemed like they had arrived during a peak travel period, with people lining up at the exit for taxis.

Eliza had booked a budget hotel to save costs, so there was no pickup service; she had to follow the crowd.

The cold front from the north had arrived, and Los Angles was several degrees colder than Washington.

Enzo, concerned that Eliza might catch a cold, took off his coat and insisted on draping it over her.

Eliza could hardly refuse, so she accepted.

On the other side, Calvin was staying at a five–star hotel, where a luxury business car had been arranged to pick him up.

They used the VIP passage, so they went straight to the car.

But due to traffic congestion, it took quite a while to cover a small distance.

Medea couldn’t resist peeking out and immediately spotted Eliza and Enzo in the crowd.

“Hey, that’s Eliza.”

The man who had been looking down at his phone raised his head when he heard her speak.

“Again with Mr. Klein, huh? Looks like their relationship is progressing quickly. They’re traveling together now.” Medea casually commented.

Calvin seemed indifferent to Eliza’s matters, glancing at her before looking away to check his phone.

She noticed that when Calvin saw Eliza with another handsome man, with whom she seemed close, he showed no reaction.

His response was surprisingly calm.

A smile couldn’t help but tug at the corners of Medea’s mouth.

The summit would be held on the third day, and Eliza and Enzo had arrived a day early for other arrangements.

Enzo’s professor was a heavyweight guest at this AI summit. After trying out their “ASKHEART” project.recently, he became very interested and specifically called Enzo to come early to Los Angles.

He wanted to meet and discuss “ASKHEART” with him.

The original meeting place was near the hotel they were staying, but it was changed last minute.

Eliza got a brief idea about Enzo’s professor.

He was a big name in the industry, having mentored many students, but only a few had caught his attention.

Enzo was one of them.

Enzo said that his professor’s personality was rather cold and strict.

He was notorious for his high standards when he was a teacher.

If a student’s work didn’t impress him, he wouldn’t even bother to look at it.

During every graduate season, the most common comment his professor wrote was:

“Don’t say I’m your professor when you go out.”

“So, does graduating mean being expelled from the mentor’s guidance?”

Eliza sighed. “That sounds a lot like my professor.”

It was rare for her to talk about her own matters, so Enzo curiously asked, “What did your professor teach?”

“Finance. But I was expelled from my mentor’s guidance as well.”

This time, Enzo politely didn’t ask further, instead saying, “Most responsible professors are strict, like mine. Even though he’s a key guest at this summit, he won’t give any student a free invitation letter.”

“In his words, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. If you want something, you have to fight for it yourself. That’s why I didn’t dare ask him for an invitation.”

Enzo felt a bit guilty as he said this.

Because he knew that Eliza had worked hard to get those two invitations.

Eliza was more optimistic, seeing things from a different angle.

“So, your professor called you ahead because he must think our ‘ASKHEART‘ project is doing great and meets his standards.”

Enzo agreed.

Eliza’s spirits lifted. “I have a feeling that this summit is going to be a huge success for us!”

Half an hour later, the car arrived at the location where they were supposed to meet the professor.

It was a high–end restaurant.

Enzo was surprised, as his professor was usually quite frugal. Why would he come to such an expensive restaurant?

Could it be a mistake?

Enzo decided to call his professor to confirm.
