Chapter 70
Eliza still decided to visit Grayson, but not because of Calvin.
Putting Calvin aside, Grayson had always been good to her. Aside from Ottilie, he was the only elder who would send her a gift during the New Year. So, out of both emotional and practical reasons, she felt it was only right to visit him.
After dropping Ottilie off at home, Eliza made her way to Grayson’s place, and made a detour to buy Grayson’s favorite lotus seed pastry.
When she arrived, Grayson’s usually stern face softened upon seeing her. After enjoying two pieces of the pastry, he asked about Eliza’s recent situation.
Eliza told him she had resigned from Everest and started working independently on a project, which was progressing well.
Grayson didn’t ask why she left Everest or about her relationship with Calvin.
Instead, he focused on asking about the project, and Eliza shared the details with him.
Grayson was impressed and offered some constructive suggestions.
After all, before his injury, Grayson had been a business legend, leading the Young family Group to great heights in a short period of time.
He had a keen eye for business and had made numerous successful investments in real estate and the internet.
At its peak, Young family Group’s market value had reached $800 billion, a force to be reckoned with.
However, after a major family tragedy, including the arrest of his wife, Grayson’s life took a downward turn. He went from a dominant force in business to a man who quietly withdrew from the industry after a series of personal and professional setbacks.
Despite everything, Grayson’s achievements remained influential, and Eliza was fortunate to receive his guidance.
After discussing the project’s strategic plan, Grayson inquired about Eliza’s funding situation. Eliza briefly shared the current status of her financing.
Grayson pondered for a moment before speaking, “After the summit, come see me. I’ll introduce you to some of my friends.”
Eliza was taken aback.
Grayson’s friends–just one of them could be a titan of the business world.
Considering Calvin had never offered her such support, Eliza hesitated before she spoke honestly, “Uncle Young, Calvin and I have broken up.”
Implying that she was an outsider, and there was no reason for him to help her.
Grayson scoffed lightly. “Good riddance. That kind of person deserves to live in solitude.”
Eliza was left speechless.
Such fatherly affection!
When she was about to leave, Nancy insisted on sending her off and asked vaguely about her relationship with Calvin.
“Nancy, we really have broken up. He has someone else now,” Eliza explained, tired of the topic.
Nancy firmly disagreed. “Impossible! How could Calvin like someone else? He clearly…”
“If you don’t believe me, ask him yourself.”

Chapter 70
Eliza didn’t want to discuss it further and hastily bid Nancy goodbye.
As she reached the hospital entrance, she saw Calvin and Medea walking in side by side.
They were deep in conversation and didn’t notice Eliza, but she noticed Calvin’s right hand, still wrapped in bandages.
It looked like the injury from last night had been worse than she expected.
If she had known, she would have made sure he couldn’t walk around.
After exiting the hospital, Eliza basked in the rare winter sun of Washington.
The warmth on her face was a welcome change. She smiled, the irony of the situation wasn’t lost on her.
There was no such thing as impossible.
She had learned to understand, accept, solve, and move on.
The next day, when Eliza and Enzo were on a business trip, Thea came to visit, and they had a lighthearted conversation.
“Brother, don’t miss the chance! Make sure to seize it!”
“Can I call her ‘sister–in–law‘? It all depends on you!”
“Remember, it has to be a proper confession, with flowers! That’s how you show your seriousness!”
“Go for it! I’ll be waiting for you to return victorious!”
Enzo was a little flustered. “What if she rejects me?”
“Then just try again!”
Enzo’s hesitation stemmed from worrying she might feel uncomfortable and that they wouldn’t even remain friends.
Thea was getting anxious. “Can’t you be a little thicker–skinned? Besides, she’s your investor! Are you worried she’ll run away?”
Enzo finally saw the sense in her words. “Alright, I’ll give it a try.”
They were flying economy class, and Enzo wanted to upgrade Eliza’s seat for her comfort, but she politely declined. “I’ve traveled economy class before; it’s fine. You’ve barely rested after last night’s work, so take this chance to sleep.”
She put on her sleep mask, settling in for a peaceful nap.
However, the conversation in the seats in front of her was hard to ignore.
The voices weren’t loud, but close enough for Eliza to hear clearly.
“Why didn’t your cousin book us a business class seat? This economy class is uncomfortable.”
“We were supposed to get business class tickets, but there were no available seats. My cousin’s boyfriend isn’t lacking money, and if it weren’t for the summit’s restrictions, we could have flown on a private jet!”
The woman next to him comforted him.
“And you know, my cousin’s boyfriend is so good to her. He even bought her a mansion in Elysian worth over a hundred million! So generous!”
Elysian?
That name was too familiar to Eliza to ignore.
