Chapter 89
Perhaps Josh’s current status wasn’t as high as Calvin’s, but it wasn’t too low either.
There was no reason he would only give a car worth a million.
If he gave it, it could only mean that he didn’t really value Eliza.
She had indeed overthought it.
So, Medea withdrew her gaze and smiled silently.
It wasn’t until Josh and Eliza were leaving that she saw Calvin and Medea.
Josh took the initiative to greet them.
When Eliza passed by them, she didn’t look at them for a second and left immediately.
As she passed, she overheard Calvin comforting Medea, “It’s just a small scratch. After it’s fixed, it’ll be barely noticeable. Tell your cousin not to stress over it.”
He didn’t seem to notice Eliza at all.
Medea felt at ease. “I told you it was just a minor incident, but you came all the way here for it.”
Calvin simply said, “It’s nothing.”
Josh noticed their good relationship and smiled faintly, before quickly catching up to Eliza and leaving with her.
Two days later, Eliza arrived at the 4S shop on time to pick up her car.
This time, it was peaceful, and she didn’t run into anyone she didn’t want to see.
Eliza drove the car directly to the office.
Sadie was waiting for her there, and without waiting for her to get out of the car, she slipped something into her hand.
It was a bit mysterious.
Eliza opened it and paused for a moment.
It was a safety amulet.
It looked identical to the one she had asked for from Calvin before, but this one was pbviously new, while the one for Calvin was a little worn.
“This is a tradition in Washington. When you get a new car, you receive a blessing. This is the safety amulet I’m giving you. I hope you stay safe!” Sadie explained.
“Thank you.” Eliza was touched by the thoughtful gesture. It had taken some effort to get this amulet, and she had to climb 99 steps to get it.
She wasn’t sure when Sadie had gone to get it.
“But what are you doing here? Isn’t today the weekend?” Eliza asked as she tied the safety amulet.
“Of course, I came here just to give you this amulet,” Sadie replied.
Eliza was moved, “Since you’re here, you might as well work overtime.”

Sadie’s face immediately dropped. “Eliza, you’ve changed! You’ve got the capitalist attitude now!”
“It’s too late to regret it. You’re already on my pirate ship!” Eliza teased.
They were still joking when Enzo and Thea arrived.
As soon as Thea got out of the car, she rushed over to Eliza. “Eliza, congratulations on getting your new car!”
While saying this, she called out to Enzo, “Hurry up, give Eliza the gift!”
“This feels a bit inappropriate,” Eliza instinctively tried to refuse.
Thea pulled her, “It’s just for good luck, don’t worry, the money’s not much.”
Enzo walked over to the car, carefully placed the money on the front windshield or sun visor, making sure it wouldn’t obstruct the driver’s view and ensuring driving safety.
Thea added, “Mom says when you get a new car, you have to seal it with money for peace and good fortune.”
At that moment, Eliza was really touched..
The company was almost ready, and now the most important thing was hiring.
Before heading to Serenity Estates, Eliza reminded Sadie to send out the recruitment announcement, as she planned to go through the resumes that evening at home.
She had to be hands–on with hiring.
Serenity Estates was located at the southernmost tip of Washington, nestled between mountains and lakes with beautiful scenery.
It had great facilities, including a horse–riding field, tennis courts, and a golf course.
Many big shots came here for business talks.
Eliza arrived early since they were all senior figures, and she didn’t want to be disrespectful.
When she got there, she didn’t immediately meet with Patrick, but quietly waited in the front hall, appreciating the beautiful scenery of Serenity
Estates.
However, her moment of peace didn’t last long.
“Eliza?”
Eliza looked up to see Baxter, another childhood friend of Calvin’s.
Of course, Baxter had never treated her well before.
Unlike Gideon, who was always exploding with anger, Baxter was more subtly harsh.
Just like now, even though he hadn’t said anything, the mocking smile on his face had already expressed his inner thoughts.
He was probably mocking her for still clinging to Calvin like a dog’s chew toy.
If it were before, Eliza would have either pretended not to see them or would have actively interacted with them, trying to fit into their circle.
But after seven years of effort, she realized she never belonged in their circle.
At first, she thought it was because she hadn’t tried hard enough.

Now, she understood that they simply never accepted her and had always excluded her.
Different circles, no need to force integration.
Eliza coldly withdrew her gaze, didn’t greet him, and ignored him entirely.
Her attitude surprised Baxter.
He sneered, then walked over and sat down opposite Eliza. “You’re quite well–informed. I see you followed Calv here.”
Eliza had no idea Calvin was also here, but she was annoyed by Baxter’s insinuation.
So, she retorted, “Do you have a death wish with all that imagination?”
Baxter was momentarily stunned.
After all, the Eliza he knew used to be gentle, understanding, and easy to manipulate.
Back then, whenever they mocked Eliza, she never got angry and never even blushed.
When they saw her again, she was always polite.
But now, she had responded so sharply, catching him off guard.
Baxter didn’t get angry and just smirked. “Do I need to imagine? Wasn’t that how you were before? You practically glued yourself to Calvin Now you’re not admitting it?”
Eliza remained calm. “Thanks for helping me recall the past. Who didn’t like a few scumbags when they were young?“,
Baxter, who was expecting some drama, was momentarily at a loss for words.
She neither denied her past actions nor simply blamed Calvin.
Instead, she used the opportunity to belittle Calvin.
This made Baxter swallow the words he was about to say.
This was the first time he’d ever been put in his place by Eliza.
She really wasn’t the same as before.
