Eliza waited by the door for about five minutes before Patrick arrived.
She personally helped him out of the car.
Patrick asked if she had been waiting for a long time, to which Eliza quickly replied, “No.”
Although she denied it, Patrick could still tell and was quite pleased with her attitude.
“Having a sense of time is a good thing. To accomplish great things, one must treat time as the most valuable resource and arrange every task in an orderly manner,” Patrick said.
Eliza listened attentively to everything he said, taking it all in.
By the time they arrived at the private room, everyone was already in place. As soon as Patrick entered, everyone stood up to greet him.
Some called him “Big Brother.”
Others addressed him as “President Young.”
Their attitude was respectful and deferential.
Although Eliza had mentally prepared herself before arriving, knowing that everyone at this dinner would be a big shot, seeing them in person was a whole different experience.
Anyone in this room could shake the business world of Washington to its core.
Eliza recognized some of them, and others she had only seen on TV.
What struck her most was how respectful everyone was to Patrick.
At that moment, Eliza remembered Patrick’s other identity–he was also the president of the Washington Chamber of Commerce.
The Washington Chamber of Commerce was a non–profit and non–political association, voluntarily formed by Washington’s business community, dedicated to serving, leading, and uniting Washington’s entrepreneurs.
Its members spanned various industries including manufacturing, finance, trade, pharmaceuticals, education, real estate, high–tech, and the internet. The association had built a strong network to promote economic exchanges and cooperation.
And as the president, Patrick was a key figure who rarely took the initiative to organize events. He preferred to remain in the background. But this time, he had gathered all the important members of the association.
Eliza couldn’t help but wonder what Patrick had planned or what instructions he had for them.
Patrick gestured for everyone to sit down and arranged for Eliza to sit beside him
This action immediately drew the attention of the others.
They began sizing her up, wondering what her background was to warrant such a seat next to the revered Patrick.
Some of them had seen Eliza before and knew she was Calvin’s secretary. They thought Patrick was paving the way for Calvin.
But after Patrick sat down, he had Eliza hand out business cards to everyone.
When everyone received their cards, they were puzzled to see that Eliza’s company, Apex Financial Group, was listed as the general manager.

They had never heard of such a company.
Patrick quickly cleared up the confusion. “Apex is a newly established investment firm. It’s still small, in terms of both assets and scale.”
Despite being a small and little–known company, it had Patrick’s personal support.
These industry veterans immediately understood what Patrick was implying, and they became very polite to Eliza.
Eliza then had the opportunity to introduce her ongoing projects.
When they learned that she was the investor behind ASKHEART, Wade Auto Group’s President Rhett Wade’s eyes lit up, and he immediately engaged in a lively conversation with Eliza.
News travels fast.
Others had heard of ASKHEART as well, and they occasionally chatted with Eliza, most of them eager to get to know her better.
But Rhett was the most enthusiastic.
He asked Eliza, “My son mentioned that we can optimize vehicles using AI algorithms, allowing advanced intelligent driving functions even with limited computational power, reducing costs. We can also merge multi–modal data using AI algorithms to analyze sensor information in real time, improving decision–making for autonomous driving in complex conditions, such as accurately identifying obstacles and planning safe routes. This could significantly enhance intelligent driving capabilities.”
“AI can indeed achieve these things. Not only that, AI can drive innovation in the automotive industry, accelerate function development and iteration, and promote industry upgrades,” Eliza replied.
“We’re getting old and don’t understand these new things, but my son has been researching them for the past two years. I’ll call him over to discuss it with you!”
Rhett excitedly called his son.
Eliza frowned slightly. She remembered that Rhett’s son was Baxter.
And just over an hour ago, she had had an unpleasant exchange with Baxter.
But in business matters, she wasn’t going to let her emotions get in the way. She believed Baxter wouldn’t either.
Baxter wasn’t like Gideon; he was still capable.
Two years ago, after returning from studying abroad, he joined Wade Auto Group and had been pushing for automotive reforms, developing new energy and autonomous vehicles.
Baxter was at Serenity Estates, currently playing golf with Medea and Gideon.
Calvin still hadn’t arrived.
The two of them were dutifully accompanying Medea,
After receiving a call from his father and understanding the situation, Baxter excused himself from the game, saying, “My dad wants me to meet a few senior figures in the industry. I’ll be back soon.”
“Make it quick! When Calvin and the others arrive, we still need to have our match!” Gideon urged.
Baxter tidied up his appearance before entering the private room to meet the elders in the circle. He smiled as he knocked and greeted them.
However, when he saw Eliza, his smile froze.
Eliza didn’t even look at him, staying focused on drinking tea.

Chapter 90
Rhett pulled him by the arm and said, “What are you staring at? Go say hello to President Grant!”
“President Grant?” Baxter was confused.
Rhett explained, “This is President Grant from Apex Investment. She’s holding an AI project that’s perfect for collaboration with us. I don’t know much about this field, so I want you to talk to President Grant!”
“You two are about the same age, it’ll be good for you to get to know each other for potential future cooperation.”
Baxter, biting the bullet, walked up to Eliza and greeted her, “Hello, President Grant.”
He never imagined that one day he would have to speak to Eliza in such a tone.
Eliza, out of politeness, gave him a cold nod, acknowledging him but not showing any warmth.
