Eliza politely declined, “No, I have another appointment.”

“Then I won’t be a third wheel. Let’s leave this meal for another time,” Sutton said smoothly.

Neither Calvin nor Medea insisted. They probably had a real date.

Unlike Eliza, who just found an excuse to avoid the meal.

“Why does everyone have a ‘situation‘? Josh has one, you have one, and now I don’t? Should I go to the matchmaker’s temple for some guidance? Even a rotten peach blossom would work!”

No one in the group responded to Gideon’s chatter.

Baxter tagged Calvin and asked, “Calvin, any advice?”

Calvin, who was having dinner with Medea, saw the message and replied, “If she likes money, send money. If she likes romance, send flowers.”

“Calvin, is he always this direct?” Gideon couldn’t help but tag Meden.

Medea responded, “He’s always like this.”

Baxter didn’t say anything else.

The next day, as soon as Eliza arrived at the office, a flash delivery service arrived with a huge bouquet of sunflowers for her.

Baxter had chosen sunflowers because he had remembered a photo he had seen some time ago.

It was of Josh giving Eliza sunflowers, and she had looked so happy. Baxter had remembered that smile very clearly when he placed the order.

When the delivery person handed her the flowers, Eliza searched through the bouquet but didn’t find any card.

She asked the delivery person, but they didn’t know anything about it.

Confused, Eliza received a message from Baxter.

Since she hadn’t been answering his calls, he had sent the message via text.

He asked if she had received the flowers and if she liked them.

Eliza replied ten minutes later, “You can ask the trash can downstairs in my building. It knows more about them than I do.”

He had never realized how much of a personality Eliza had.

In his mind, Eliza had always been the quiet, easy–to–please woman who was just a pretty face.

He couldn’t even understand why Calvin had kept her around for seven years.

So when Calvin eventually chose Medea, Baxter had thought it made sense.

Medea was more talented and came from a better background. She was a better match for Calvin.

Meanwhile, after replying to Gideon’s message, Baxter ran into Josh.

He thought for a moment, then decided to approach him..

“You here to find Eliza?” Baxter asked Josh.

“Mm,” Josh responded, glancing at him. “What about you?”

“Funny, I’m here to find her too,” Baxter replied.

He paused, then explained, “I’m here to discuss the collaboration.”

Josh said, “I’m also here to talk to her about the project. I invested in ASKHEART, so I wanted to discuss it with her.”

“Well then, let’s go together.”

The two of them went upstairs to find Eliza.

Eliza was in a meeting, and Sadie greeted them both.

Baxter asked, “Aren’t you from Everest? What are you doing here?”

“I couldn’t keep up, so I resigned,” Sadie replied.
