Last night, he had been with his first love, enjoying a romantic evening till dawn.

Early this morning, he appeared at her house again, trying to win her over.

Calvin asked, “Did you take the safety charm from my car?”

Eliza sped up and didn’t look at him. “No! Don’t falsely accuse people! And stop bothering my mom, and don’t disturb my life either.”

“Okay.” He replied flatly.

Eliza didn’t know if he was actually listening, but at least she had said what she needed to say.

She didn’t want to say another word or have any further connection with him.

The weather was clear, and the sunlight at 2 PM formed a natural boundary between them, as if marking a distinct line.

“My dad’s birthday is coming up.” Calvin stared at the shadows of the two of them on the ground, then suddenly said, “He doesn’t like me, but if possible, you should go keep him company.”

Eliza paused.

Now, she understood why Calvin had gone through all this trouble to show kindness at her house.

Was he trying to exchange filial piety for something in return?

But she didn’t respond to his request. She simply took the car and left.

Eliza felt sympathy.

Erik was a talented and creative person.

She had chosen their project for that reason.

“Sorry to hear that.”

“What’s your next plan?” Eliza asked.

Erik shook his head. “I don’t know. I feel lost.”

He and Lucas were college classmates and roommates.

At first, he wanted to do games, and Lucas came from a wealthy family.

Together, they started the business.

The conflict had always been there, but Erik, being the one funding the project, tolerated it for the greater good.

Eliza thought for a moment and said, “Maybe take a break and adjust your mindset.”

“Yeah,” Erik nodded. “I really need to adjust.”

Eliza took a business card from her bag and put it in the box. “If you have any ideas later, you can contact me.”

Erik seemed touched. “Okay.”

The next morning, Eliza received a message about her hospital appointment.

She had to think for a moment to remember that Calvin had mentioned accompanying her to the hospital today.
