She never expected Stella’s excuse to be that someone was engaging in illegal prostitution. She just couldn’t keep up with Stella’s logic. Camilla thought, ‘Would that even work?’
But before Camilla could say anything, a fight had already broken out upstairs.
From the windows of the high-rise hotel, a bunch of guys’ and girls’ clothes got tossed out together, raining down like snowflakes.
The security guards downstairs stood there, completely stunned by the spectacle.
Upstairs, David burst through the door and started beating the two on the bed.
Brantley and Lauren had no idea what was going on. Before they could even realize what hit them, their faces had been slapped over a dozen times.
By the time the police arrived, the room looked like a tornado had hit it.
A huge crowd had gathered at the door.
Everyone had their phones out, filming like there was no tomorrow.
Camilla was left speechless.
Watching the video of Brantley’s face, so swollen he was practically unrecognizable, Camilla finally understood what Stella meant when she said “you can’t.”
Camilla thought, ‘Compared to Stella, I am a total pushover.’
Meanwhile, Stella had just hung up with Broderick. She asked Sebastian, “Take a guess. Who from the Gray family is gonna show up?”
Stella fiddled with her phone, her eyes fixed on the hotel windows, a cold glint flashing in her gaze, her lips curled in a half-smile, half-mockery.
Sebastian’s face was half-hidden in the shadows, his stormy gray eyes lingering on her face. He replied, “Sophia.”
Stella said, “I think Linda will show up, too.” Without missing a beat, she slipped a pair of frameless glasses onto Sebastian’s nose, covering up the icy chill in his eyes whenever he looked at someone.
Sebastian, a little uncomfortable, adjusted the glasses with one hand.
Stella thought, ‘Man, he’s just way too good-looking

“So, what do we do now?” Camilla asked, looking lost.
“Just wait,” Stella drawled, totally relaxed.
Camilla asked, “Wait for what?”

“Wait for the cops to call you so you can go pick your husband up,” Stella said, casually running her fingers over Sebastian’s Adam’s apple.
Sebastian was dressed in nothing but a black shirt and tie, looking all dark and dangerously attractive.
Stella hit the button, and the dark-tinted window slid up, shutting Camilla out.
Sebastian lounged back in the leather seat, turning his head toward Stella. Those eyes behind the frameless glasses were dangerously deep. “Stella?” he called out.
“Your tie’s undone,” Stella said, her gaze lazy and seductive, her voice hooking him in without even trying.
Sebastian didn’t really get what she meant, but still, he loosened his tie with one hand anyway.
He wrapped it around his hand with deliberate ease.
He looked like the perfect mix of gentleman and bad boy.
His Adam’s apple moved as he swallowed hard.
Stella reached out, her fingers finding his collar, and popped open the buttons, one after another.
Sebastian’s eyes grew darker, more intense.
Neither of them spoke, and the tension in the car spiked.
Outside, Camilla craned her neck, but the tinted windows kept everything hidden.
When Stella reached for the third button, Sebastian’s hand, still wrapped in his tie, caught hers and held her still.
“I have got a scar,” Sebastian murmured.
Stella arched an eyebrow, trying to pull her hand away, but Sebastian kept her pinned, her palm pressed firmly against his chest.
She raised her free hand in mock surrender.
Sebastian gave her a long, intense look before finally letting go of her hand.
“It’s not pretty,” Sebastian said, his voice low and rough.
Even he couldn’t help but think it looked awful whenever he saw it.
“I think it actually looks pretty good,” Stella drawled, tilting her head as she eyed his open collar. She thought,

‘Way better than when he was all buttoned up.’
Sebastian accidentally bumped the console, and the window slid back down.
Camilla had just finished talking to the cops and was totally speechless.

She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something off between Stella and the so-called bodyguard.
As if he could feel Camilla staring, Sebastian turned around, his look cold and intimidating.
Camilla was so startled her fingers went numb, and for a second, she was mentally writing her will.
“I-I got the call,” Camilla stammered, barely finding her voice.
Stella’s tone lifted as she asked, “North District Precinct?”
Camilla nodded.
“Let’s go, Mr. Bodyguard,” Stella said, sitting up straight and staring ahead, having no clue that Sebastian’s muscles were wound tight as steel under that black shirt.
They arrive at North District Precinct in no time.
Stella got out of the car while Sebastian stayed put. She propped one hand on the roof and looked down at
him.
“You go in first,” Sebastian said, his voice husky, giving nothing away.
Stella didn’t think twice and just shut the car door.
Broderick was already waiting at the entrance, his face grim as he spoke on the phone.
Camilla followed behind Stella, her emotions tangled. It suddenly dawned on her: she barely knew Stella at
all.
Suddenly, Stella stopped halfway up the steps.
She stopped and turned back.
Her gaze instinctively locked onto Sebastian, who was still sitting in the car.
Camilla, following Stella’s bold stare, couldn’t help but glance over, too.
Suddenly, Stella’s cold, emotionless voice sounded right in Camilla’s ear. Stella snapped, “Who said you could look at him?”
The words startled Camilla so much that she snapped her gaze away instantly.
It hit her a second later.
Camilla thought, ‘Why am I even supposed to listen to her?’

Stella lingered in silence, watching Sebastian fiddle with his shirt, finally popping open the third button. She couldn’t help but let a sly smile curl at her lips.
She thought, ‘Is it even possible for a guy to be this cute?’
Stella tore her gaze away, acting as if nothing had happened. The moment she turned back, her face turned cold and unreadable. “Didn’t you say you wanted to beat them up? Just go in there and slap them silly,” she said, her voice icy.
Camilla hesitated, “I…” Her voice trembled.
“Scared?” Stella shot her a sharp look. She asked, “Scared? What if Brantley finds out it was you who made that call to the police?”
