Staring at the backs of Stella and Blackie as they left the bouncer sprawled out at the door, Broderick stayed quiet for a long while. He thought, ‘It probably won’t be a problem, right?’
Outside the bar, in the blink of an eye, everyone around Stella and Sebastian was knocked flat.
Moans and groans filled the air.
Stella calmly stroked Blackie, her long lashes lowered as she looked down at the guy who’d started the fight. She drawled, “I keep telling you guys, be polite. If someone asks you something, just answer. Don’t go around picking fights or threatening people.”
The guys sprawled on the ground were stunned. They thought, ‘Seriously, is she for real?
‘Did she really just say that? Is that even something a normal person would say?
‘Who would’ve guessed these two, looking like they just walked out of a comic book, could be so savage?’
Sebastian stood next to Stella, lurking in the shadows, cold and menacing. His eyes behind those rimless glasses locked onto the guy’s face. He’d never been the friendly type, but right now, he looked more like a grim reaper than anything human.
His shoe was planted firmly on the nearest guy’s wrist.
The guy screamed.
Stella lazily stepped over the thugs sprawled on the ground and headed straight into the bar. Sebastian was a beat late. When Stella realized he wasn’t following, she turned around.
She saw Sebastian, stone-faced, coldly crushing the bouncer’s wrist under his shoe, each stomp merciless.
Agonized screams echoed nonstop.
Sebastian looked like he was just playing around, eyes cold and full of bloodlust. He muttered under his breath, “This hand pointed at her. This hand tried to touch her. And this hand…”
Blackie cocked his head, glancing up at Stella. He was a bit worried that she might freak out when Sebastian went off the rails.
But Stella smiled.
Her smile was like fireworks bursting in the night, absolutely stunning.
Stella grinned and asked, “Blackie, isn’t he adorable?”
Blackie was speechless.

Not far away, Sebastian suddenly froze, looking like an ostrich burying its head in the sand. He quickly lifted his foot off the bouncer’s wrist, then looked up like nothing had happened. He replied, “Yeah?”
His eyes darted away, avoiding her gaze.
Stella thought, ‘God, he’s even more adorable now.’
“Come stand by me,” she said, her voice soft.
Sebastian answered, “Yeah.” He stepped over the battered thugs, returning to Stella’s side, his stormy gray eyes locked onto her with a quiet intensity.
Not sure how much she’d seen, Sebastian hesitated for a moment, then shyly hooked a finger at his collar, almost like he was trying to draw her gaze.
He seemed to say, “Look. I’ve even got my shirt unbuttoned to the third one.”
Stella didn’t reply or move.
Sebastian frowned and thought, ‘Seriously? She didn’t even notice?
‘Let’s try this again.’
He played it cool, letting his hand slide over his chest again, making sure she could see just how far he’d unbuttoned his shirt.
Stella thought, ‘He’s practically flashing his chest right in my face! I am not blind!’
After two seconds of awkward silence, Stella said, “Let’s go,” and strolled right into the bar.
Sebastian froze for a moment, then followed.
Inside the bar, Chadwick and Declan were pinned down at the VIP table. Declan had a crew cut, sharp and tough-looking, while Chadwick looked timid, still dressed in his bar staff uniform.
The chaos outside didn’t touch their private booth. A gruff middle-aged man, Tony Parker, in a Gucci tiger- print tee, had a cigar clenched between his teeth as he took a deep drag.
He was still sporting a bandage on his head.
Tony growled, “Chadwick, your old man skipped town with my cash.”
Chadwick stammered, “I’ll work really hard, M-Mr. Parker.”
Tony raised his hand, and his men instantly covered Chadwick’s mouth.
Declan tried to fight back, but was slammed back down onto the table with a heavy thud.

“Which hand do you want to keep?” Tony asked, taking a drag on his cigar, eyes cold as he stared at Declan.
His guys pinned both of Declan’s hands to the table.
Tony thought, ‘No one hurts me and walks away unscathed.’
Chadwick struggled, eyes red and desperate. He called out, “M-Mr. Parker! Take mine instead!”
He thought, ‘Declan can’t get hurt. No way.
Tony’s face darkened, and Chadwick got his mouth clamped shut again.
“If you won’t choose, I’ll choose for you!” Tony said coldly, tapping Declan’s left hand with his finger, biting down hard on his cigar.
“You got it, boss!” one of his men said.
Declan’s forehead veins popped, his eyes blazing red as he stared daggers at Tony, like a wild animal on the edge.
Tony just gave a chilling laugh, and the knife in his man’s hand hovered, ready to come down.
Suddenly, the music outside the VIP booth cut off, plunging the bar into an abrupt silence.
Screams from the girls erupted in waves, filling the air with chaos.
“Go check it out!” Tony barked, his face twisted in annoyance. He thought, ‘Who dares to stir up trouble on my turf?
‘Are they tired of living or what?’
Tony’s guys put away the knife in a flash.
Declan took advantage of the chaos, adrenaline surging, grabbed Chadwick, and made a break for it.
“Don’t let him get away!” Tony shouted.
Someone running off right under his nose: total humiliation! Tony’s rage hit the roof.
“D-Declan, run. Don’t worry about me!” Chadwick shouted, stumbling after barely a couple of steps. He yelled for Declan to just go, not to look back.
Tony’s men grabbed Chadwick and smashed a fist into his face, hard.
Declan froze, his jaw clenched, and every sharp angle of his face radiating danger.
His brows drew together, fierce and intimidating.
Declan snapped, “Let him go!”

He whipped around and threw a flying kick, his moves quick and ruthless. But outnumbered and overwhelmed, he couldn’t hold his own.
One of the thugs swung a steel pipe, cracking Declan hard and sending him crashing to the floor.
“D-Declan!” Chadwick screamed, his voice cracking with panic.
Clubs and pipes came crashing down on Declan as he curled up, arms shielding his head. He knew this could be the end for him tonight. Blood dripped from his forehead, blurring his vision, but not a single word escaped him.
He just took it, silent and stubborn.
The next second, the steel pipe froze mid-air.
Declan caught sight of those familiar canvas sneakers stepping into view. Gritting his teeth, he forced his head
