Chapter 208

Stella took off her black baseball cap.

Her long hair fell down her back, her eyes cool and distant, and everyone could finally get a glimpse of her face.

Then, with a flick of her hand, she pulled off her mask.

Her face was blank as she let everyone see her.

Stella said, “I’m Stella.”

Just as Murray brought his teacup to his lips, it slipped from his fingers and shattered on the floor.

Eliel and Vincent looked like their eyeballs might actually pop out.

‘Wait, we’ve been escorting Ms. Carter herself this entire time?’ the two thought, minds completely blown.

Levi clutched at his chest, that all-too-familiar sensation of his brain short-circuiting kicking in again. “Medicine. I need my medicine,” he muttered under his breath.

For some reason, Blake, still rocking his baggy shorts and house slippers, asked out of nowhere, “Yo, what’s the commotion?”

Everyone stood there, dumbstruck.

Stella turned around and shot Blake a cold look.

Blake instantly mimed zipping his mouth shut and obediently shuffled behind her.

Only Hudson managed to keep his cool.

Levi blurted out, “Kid, you’re the head of Lab 709?”

After downing two more pills and finally finding his voice, Levi slammed his hand on the table and shot to his feet, making the teacups jump.

Before Stella could say a word, he spun around to the military big shots and said, “Do you even know who she is?

“She’s the one I told you about, the one who totally dominated that online procurement meeting, slashed the price by 20%, and even got them to upgrade all our old equipment to the latest models, no extra charge.”

He was so hyped up that he was practically spitting everywhere.

If the brass were just shocked by how young Stella was at first, now, when they looked at her, there was a whole new mix of respect and awe in their eyes.

Murray coughed and said, “Oh, and let me add, this girl right here.

“She’s the one I told you about, the doc who pulled off a miracle surgery for Barrett, captain of Red Shadow’s Fifth Unit, and while she was at it, she trashed Mike and his squad. Plus, she helped us, uh, borrow that gene serum.”

As soon as Murray finished, Vincent said in a timid voice, “And she’s also the one who snatched Paul back from the jaws of death and even fixed up his hands. She’s little…”

Stella shot Vincent a cold look.

Vincent hurriedly waved his hands, saying, “Not little at all. Not a little in the slightest.”

Everyone was dumbstruck.

Blake looked down at Stella in shock and admiration, suddenly feeling proud just to be with her.

He thought, ‘Stella was always shining, even when I didn’t know it. No one here knows that Stella knows Shark. Only I know.

Blake held his head high with pride, looking absolutely smug.

‘I’m Stella’s favorite kid,’ he thought, a wave of pride and happiness washing over him.

Levi blurted out, “Damn, kid, you?”

He was honestly floored.

His heart was in his throat.

Stella stayed calm and collected the whole time, no matter what anyone said or how they acted. She said, “Since this is a military project, we need to sign confidentiality agreements with the military as witnesses.”

She lifted her hand as she spoke.

Broderick passed her the stack of papers he’d had ready, though his gaze was locked somewhere else.

Stella said, “But before we sign the official agreement, I have a few additional terms I want to add.”

The big shots looked at each other, not sure what to say.

Hudson said, “Go ahead.”

Stella’s gaze turned icy, commanding the room. She said, “First, nobody in this room is allowed to breathe a word about me or anyone from Lab 709. Anyone who breaks this rule, you deal with the fallout yourself.”

She paused, giving them a moment to let it sink in.

Stella continued saying, “Second, Lab 709 will soon send a core team over to lon Wing Drones to develop the Ion Wing Drones One. Here’s the project proposal.”

As soon as she finished, Broderick, the world’s top lawyer, slid a printed copy of the proposal across the table to each of the military big shots.

Levi shoved on his glasses and buried himself in the papers; his eyes nearly popped out of his head the more he read.

Blake froze again.

The truth was that even as the boss of Ion Wing Drones, Blake was hearing about all this for the very first time.

Levi blurted out, “Holy crap.”

‘It’s like someone handed us the perfect solution right when we needed it,’ he thought, barely able to contain his excitement.

The seamless integration technology for drones and military systems described in this proposal was exactly what they’d been striving to develop all these years.

“Hudson, you gotta check this out,” Levi blurted out, his voice shaking with excitement.

His hands were trembling so hard he could barely hold the papers.

Hudson finished reading, paused for a few seconds, then said in his commanding tone, “So, you want us to partner with Ion Wing Drones?”

Stella looked him straight in the eye, totally unfazed by his authority.

Hudson said, “Ion Wing Drones isn’t quite up to par.”

He was just stating the facts, no personal feelings involved.

Stella met his gaze and said coolly, “Not anymore.”

Hudson went silent again, his expression giving nothing away. He asked, “Conrad Lab’s chips?”

Stella scoffed, her laugh full of disdain.

She said, “Lab 709 has never invited Conrad. Not once.”

Everyone was dumbstruck.

Levi held his breath, eyes wide. He asked, “You mean?”

Stella didn’t mince words. She said, “He’s not worthy.”

She leaned back in her chair, and in that instant, her aura dominated the room. Even though she still looked a

young, none of the heavyweights across from her dared to underestimate her.

Stella said, “There’s an old saying in Clusia. Never underestimate the young, no matter how humble their beginnings. That’s Ion Wing Drones.”

Hudson still shook his head, saying, “But those drones are missing their spark; they just don’t have what makes them truly special.”

“The chip is the key,’ he thought.

Stella said, “Now it does.”

She looked

up, her gaze sharp and commanding. She said, “I am its soul.”

Across the table, no one said a word.

Her almost cocky confidence didn’t bother anyone; instead, they were actually taking her seriously, weighing whether she could really make it happen.

“If you don’t mind, I’d be the first to take a chance on this,” someone suddenly said. Stella looked up and met his gaze.
