In no time, the QuizMaster site was swarmed by drama–loving fans, and the servers were on the verge of meltdown.
Lucky Candy’s hand shook as she clicked the mouse. The page loaded, and the very first thing she saw was her own name.
She was in the top 100 in all of Clusia.
This had always been Lucky Candy’s biggest flex.
In Jaffina, she lived in a luxury mansion and had top grades, stunning looks, and a heart of gold. Just one of those would make her a total winner, and that’s exactly why her fans went crazy for her.
But now, she worked her way up the rankings, holding her breat as she scanned each name. The chat went eerily quiet, every fan glued to her stream.
Before long, she reached the top ten.
In Lucky Candy’s stream, even the barrage of comments came to a standstill. Everyone was silent, eyes locked on the screen.
Her scrolling slowed to a crawl.
From the top ten to the top two, they didn’t see the name they were looking for.
But when they saw the name after the top 1, a collective gasp ripped through the chat. It was Shark_001.
They thought, ‘Absolute legend! Now that’s a real legend!‘
On the other end of the video, Stella lounged back, chin resting in her hand. “You really want a rematch against me?” Her eyes were cool, her voice totally chill while she tossed the question without a hint of emotion.
Lucky Candy stammered, “Wait, you’re a grad student? Isn’t that kinda unfair, flexing on the newbies?”
She was still desperately trying to save face.
Stella grinned, opened her drawer once again, and pulled out he Edenbury Academy student badge.
[No freaking way! I’m at the same school as her!]
[Wait, Edenbury Academy? Seriously?]
[Who is it? It looks like she’s from the honors class? Can you believe the top 1 of the QuizMaster in all of Clusia is actually an Edenbury Academy student!]
The chat was blowing up with talk about Shark_001, and “embarrassed” didn’t even begin to describe how mortified Lucky Candy looked.
Right in front of all her viewers, Lucky Candy, her face burning with shame, just slammed her device shut and ended the
stream.
The whole thing was as awkward and humiliating as it got.
Stella, looking totally uninterested, set her little shark mug down and casually told Lucas, “Have some water.”
Everyone stared as she just set her mug right on top of the Rhaesia Invitation, turning it into a literal coaster.
They thought, ‘Damn! Now that’s flexing on a whole different level!

Lucas started sipping his water.
Stella said, “Starting now, the forum’s closed to outsiders. If you’ve already applied, get your academic credentials in ASAP. Anyone who doesn’t finish verification in three days gets booted
Stella finished calmly and shut out without a second thought.
She didn’t even spare a thought for the chaos she’d just stirred up tonight.
Upstairs in the study, Allan was sniffling as he watched the screen grabbing tissue after tissue. “Sebastian, this is just too moving!”
Sebastian stared at the mountain of used tissues piling up on the desk, and a vein throbbed on his forehead.
When midnight struck, both their phones buzzed at the same time. A citywide text from the Haliville authorities popped up, short and clear: [From now until midnight tomorrow, no unofficial drones are allowed to fly anywhere in Haliville. Heads up!]
And every single person in Haliville got
that
message.
In the bedroom, Stella flipped up Lucas’s mask with one hand.
Lucas propped his chin up with both hands. He looked absolutely adorable.
Stella looked down at him, her delicate, porcelain face lost in thought.
Lucas thought, ‘Why’s Stella staring at me like that?”
After a while, Stella grabbed a Rubik’s Cube off the table, messed it up, and handed it to Lucas, nodding for him to give it a shot.
Lucas gave her a cute little head tilt.
He didn’t really get what she wanted, but he took it anyway. A few quick twists and clicks later, the cube was solved, barely ten seconds flat.
Stella raised an eyebrow in anger.
Lucas set the cube back on the table and then looked up at her, reaching out for a cuddle.
Lucas yawned to show he was sleepy.
Stella scooped Lucas up with one arm, and he snuggled into her neck, his eyes drifting shut. Before long, he was out like a light, soft snores filling the room.
The next morning, the phone on the nightstand blared, loud and insistent.
Stella, not ready to face the world yet, groaned and buried herself under the covers.
Beside her, a guy reached over, grabbed the phone, and answere, “Hello?” His voice came out low and rough from sleep.
But there was dead silence on the other end.
Sebastian cracked his eyes open, checked the caller ID, and muttered, “It’s Emily.” Then he pressed the phone to Stella’s ear.
Stella sighed helplessly.
On the other end, Emily called, “Stella?”

Stella’s voice was groggy with sleep. “Yeah?”
Then Emily started screaming.
She thought, ‘In the morning, Mr. Gray picked up Stella’s phone? Are they sleeping together?‘
Stella and Sebastian sighed helplessly.
A sleepy little lump stirred between them. Lucas poked his head up, looking confused.
Stella hung up, now fully awake. She turned to look at Sebastian who made Emily scream.
Sebastian just looked at her, all innocent.

Once Emily calmed down, she called back. Stella answered, and Emily said, “Stella, the paternity test results are out.”
Her words cut through the quiet of the morning.
Sebastian froze and thought, ‘Paternity test?‘
Stella said calmly, “Okay, I’ll have someone pick it up later.
Emily blurted out, “So… last night, you and Mr. Gray-
