Shadows Between Us (Stella and Sebastian) novel Chapter 339

Chapter 339

I don’t get it, Camilla said, looking confused.

Q:

Stella gave her a long, meaningful look. “You don’t need to get it. Just do what I tell you.”

Camilla shivered involuntarily.

Stella’s tone was cold. “Do you want to live or not?”

Camilla froze. Her eyes darted nervously.

Stella’s piercing gaze fixed on Camilla. “Brantley wants the eighteen million dollars from your accidental death insurance payout. But don’t forget, you’ve got nearly 21 million dollars of insurance lined up for yourself if anything happens to him.”

Camilla sucked in a sharp breath, her eyes flashing with greed.

‘How could I forget?’ Camilla thought, her heart pounding.

Back then, Stella had taken out nearly 23 million dollars in insurance for Brantley, with Camilla listed as the sole beneficiary.

At that moment, Camilla’s whole vibe changed. Her survival instincts flared up, making her come alive.

I get it, Camilla said.

Stella showed a faint smile.

A moment later, Camilla flagged down a taxi and left.

Stella watched her leave, her gaze flickering between light and shadow, cold with a faint chill.

Are you plotting against her? Declan suddenly asked, his short hair framing sharp features that still carried a hint of boyishness.

Stella coolly looked away, then met his eyes. “Fabian.”

Fabian, who’d been guarding Stella from the shadows, stepped out immediately.

Declan was stunned.

Declan looked at Fabian, who was huge, towering over Stella, all muscle and fighter vibes. But right now, he was bowing his head to her, showing nothing but respect.

Ms. Carter, your instructions? Fabian asked respectfully.

Send Brantley an anonymous copy of Camilla’s police report call recording, Stella spoke coldly, making no effort to shield Declan from her words.

Fabian didn’t waste a word. “Yes.”

He withdrew immediately.

You’re wrong. Once she was done giving orders, Stella finally turned to Declan. “I’m not plotting against her.”

Declan blinked, momentarily stunned.

Stella looked up and said calmly, “I’m gonna end their lives.”

Declan was stunned.

But before Declan could say another word, a group of thugs stormed into the dealership, looking like they were ready for trouble.

They were definitely not here for a friendly chat.

Where’s Declan? Get him out here! one of them yelled, kicking over repair tools and smashing anything in their way. The place was trashed in seconds, chaos everywhere.

Stella raised an eyebrow lazily. “Looks like they’re here for you.”

I’ll handle it myself, Declan said, his brows furrowed, eyes sharp. “Stay out of this.”

Without another word, Declan headed straight for the troublemakers.

In the shadows, Fabian finished up and shot Stella a look, silently asking if she wanted him to deal with those thugs.

But Stella just stuffed her hands in her pockets and walked over, cold and indifferent, not showing a single

emotion.

With no orders from Stella, Fabian stayed put, not making a move.

He just watched, waiting to see what would happen.

You’re here for me. Leave everyone else alone, Declan said firmly.

Fred Wheaton, the tattooed thug in charge, snorted, hooked a plastic chair with his foot, and sat down with attitude. “So you’re done hiding like a coward?”

Declan stayed silent.

One of Fred’s men suddenly kicked at Declan’s knee, trying to force him down. But before he got close, there was a loud crash, and the chair exploded into splinters, and the guy collapsed instantly.

Everyone was stunned by the sudden scene. Stella, dressed in a crisp white shirt, looked completely unfazed as she tossed the remains of the chair aside and stared at Fred.

Declan’s mind went blank for a second. ‘Didn’t I just tell her to stay out of it?!

Fred narrowed his eyes and asked, “Young lady, do you have any idea who you’re messing with?”

Cut the crap. I’ll go with you! Declan jumped in front of Stella, but with a casual flick, she moved him out of the way before he could even react.

Declan wondered, ‘How the hell did she just move me like that?’

Stella replied coolly, totally in control. “You’re not the first one to ask me that.” She pointed at a chair next to her, and Declan, though speechless, just grabbed a chair and handed it to her.

Fred smirked, looking interested. “Oh yeah? What about those guys?”

Stella thought for a second, then gave a mysterious smile. “Who knows?”

Fred’s grin faded, suddenly wary. “Listen, girl, you really don’t want to get mixed up in this. This is between

Declan and us.”

Funny thing is, Stella replied, her voice calm, “I’ve got issues with him too.”.

Declan was confused.

He looked down, his expression complicated.

‘What kind of issues do we have?’ Declan thought.

Noticing the question in Declan’s eyes, Stella casually grabbed a calculator, her pale fingers tapping away. She turned the display toward him. “The money he owes me.”

Declan was speechless.

Fred was speechless, too.

The rest of the crew just stared, speechless.

Stella’s voice was cold. “If you die, that debt turns into bad debt, and I can’t stand bad debts.” As she spoke, she glanced at Fred, making him feel uncomfortable.

Mr. Wheaton, stop wasting time with her! We’re on the clock! one of the thugs urged.

Fred’s face darkened. “Take them away!”

On the road, in the rear seat of the van, Declan glanced sideways at Stella, his expression complicated. She was calmly resting with her eyes closed, unfazed by it all.

You really shouldn’t have gotten involved, he said quietly.

Stella didn’t even open her eyes, just replied lazily, “Yeah.”

Declan hesitated, then said, “These guys are from underground boxing.”

Stella nodded. “Okay.”
