Chapter 347
Camilla froze, feeling hurt and desperate. “It’s the insurance payout we talked about before!”
‘Is Stella really going to back out now?’ Camilla thought.

Did we ever agree on anything? Stella asked, taking the windbreaker from Sebastian and slipping it on. Her voice sounded innocent, but to Camilla, her pretty yet blank face looked downright terrifying.
Camilla’s face went very pale. “You-”
But before she could get another word out, a few figures suddenly loomed over them.
Hazel glanced over.
The police had arrived. “Mrs. Carter, Ms. Carter, you are both suspected of involvement in a kidnapping case. Please come with us.”
Camilla and Hazel were both stunned.
What are you even talking about? Kidnapping? Who did we kidnap? Hazel freaked out, instinctively backing away, her eyes flickering with panic. Camilla broke out in a cold sweat, clutching her wound, so terrified she could barely stay on her feet.
Stella just said, totally unfazed, “Me.”
Camilla and Hazel snapped their heads toward her, faces going very pale in an instant.
Hazel’s lips quivered. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Don’t worry about it, Stella replied, shooting her a knowing glance. “You’ll figure it out once you’re in there.”
No! Seeing Hazel about to be cuffed, Camilla panicked and grabbed Stella’s hand. “The necklace? Anything you want to know about Jaffina? I’ll tell you everything. Just please, don’t let Hazel go to prison-”
With a thud, Camilla collapsed before Stella.
Stella looked down. She watched Camilla sobbing her heart out, her deep amber eyes glinting with something unreadable.
Stella lifted her hand.
That won’t be necessary, Stella said coldly, a mocking smile tugging at her lips as she peeled Camilla’s fingers off her hand, one by one.
Just as Stella finished speaking, the bodies of Brantley and Vera, already zipped up in body bags, were carried out from the
stairwell.
Camilla flinched, chills running down her spine.
Sebastian said, “Take them away.”
And with that, the curtain fell on this wild show.
On the way back, Stella’s phone hadn’t stopped ringing since they got in the car.
Sebastian, how long are you going to keep staring at me? Stella asked, propping her chin up with one hand and idly fiddling with her phone with the other. The next second, her hair swished as she suddenly swung herself onto Sebastian’s lap.
Stella said, “My phone-”

Her phone slipped from her grasp, but Sebastian didn’t even look down. With a quick flick of his long fingers, he caught it mid-air before it could hit the floor.
His eyes were deep
They were so close. Stella resting one hand on his shoulder as Sebastian turned off her phone.
The ringtone cut off instantly.
Sebastian tossed the phone aside and leaned in, kissing her.
Stella blinked, stunned for a second. ‘Whoa, that was sudden!’ she thought.
Hiss-Stella gasped as he nipped at the little mole on her collarbone. It wasn’t too hard, but just enough to make her heart flutter and her head go fuzzy. “Seriously, are you part dog or what?”
Stella gave Sebastian’s ear a playful tug.
He looked up at her, lips still wet from the kiss, and teased, “Woot?”
Stella couldn’t help but smile helplessly.
Sebastian traced his finger along the corner of her mouth, where the taste of gunpowder still lingered. “So, do you like roses?”
‘How did Sebastian even get that idea?’ Stella thought to herself.
After thinking for a second, Stella replied, dead serious, “I like money.”
Sebastian was momentarily stunned.
Stella added lazily, “Like, tons of it.”
Sebastian fell silent, deep in thought.
But he still had to keep up that whole “poor guy” act.
Looking at Stella, Sebastian decided to change the subject. “Want me to handle things with your school and get you a long leave?”
The trip to Tongalia and Jaffina would take at least three months.
Stella stayed right where she was, idly playing with his ear, her eyes lowered. “No need, I’ll take care of it myself.”
She actually had a few things she wanted to discuss with Zack anyway.
So, with the Knight family, are you backing Jaxon? Stella asked of handedly.
Yeah, Sebastian replied.
Got it, Stella said, nodding back.
Growing up with five eccentric elders, Stella never saw the world in terms of right and wrong. It was always about who she vibed with. Since Sebastian was siding with Jaxon, she figured she’d just watch how things unfold.
This way, please! Meanwhile, at the airport, Tony said, practically tripping over himself to be polite. His men, who’d come to pick him up, were totally stunned. They’d never seen their boss at so humble before.

‘Who the hell is so important that Tony’s acting like this?’ they wondered.

Then, as they looked over, out walked three old men, looking all mystical and sage-like. The men could only stare in speechless disbelief.
If they weren’t rocking those retro round black shades, clutching Pads, and sporting limited-edition sneakers, maybe they’d actually look a bit more legit.
Hold up! Dashiell suddenly threw up his hand.
He started making some fortune-telling hand gestures, looking mystical.
Tony wondered, ‘What the heck is going on?’
So, what’s the verdict? Halcyon asked, sliding his sunglasses dow to reveal his wide, round eyes.
Dashiell withdrew his hand, stroked his beard, and declared, “Right foot first for good luck today.”
Tony and his men were stunned into silence.
The three old men hiked up their robes in perfect unison, stepped out with their right feet, and as soon as they landed, they all grinned in satisfaction.
Hmm? Dashiell cocked his head at Tony. “Careful, looks like you’re about to have a run-in with some bad luck. It might even draw blood!”
Tony was totally shocked.
Mr. Parker, uh- one of his men raised his hand, lowering his voice.
Tony frowned. “Go on, quit yapping.”
He shoved the three dead-weight suitcases at his guys, nerves jangling. Distracted, he stepped out with his left foot first, and instantly, there was a loud crash.
The three elders turned to look, only to see Tony flat on his back limbs splayed out on the floor.
Halcyon crouched down and propped up Tony’s head with his finger. Tony kept a straight face, but then his nose started gushing blood.
See? Spot on! Halcyon said, raising an eyebrow smugly.
Tony cursed inwardly, ‘Damn it! Serves me right for being so careless with my feet!’
