Stella gave him a cold, badass look, one eyebrow raised. “Are they at the back gate?”

Declan was stunned.

He said, “They’re at the front gate. You were supposed to-”

Before Declan could finish, Stella walked right past him, taking her sweet time heading downstairs.

Declan stood there dumbfounded for a moment, then quickly chased after her.

The doors swung open, and a bunch of thugs swaggered out, baseball bats in hand, their eyes full of arrogance as they sized up the “Edenbury Academy” sign, waiting for Icarus to call the shots.

“Icarus, I can’t get through to Jenna or Chantel,” one of them said looking totally confused.

Icarus, rocking a black tank top with a cigarette dangling from one hand and a baseball bat in the other, squinted. “Keep calling.”

Just then, Chadwick came with Caiden and the rest.

“Chadwick?” Icarus said, taking a drag from his cigarette before tossing it to the ground with a crooked grin.

Chadwick tried to act cool, but his voice still stammered. “I-Icarus.”

Icarus threw an arm around Chadwick’s shoulders and smacked him hard on the back of the head.

He said, “Last time your father got into trouble, I wasn’t here. What did Mr. Parker do to you? Was it Chantel who pleaded for you again, like always?”

Hearing that, the thugs behind Icarus sneered.

They knew Icarus was talking about the night Stella wiped the floor with everyone.

That night, Tony had sent Icarus to another spot to keep things under control. He was so embarrassed by what went down that he ordered everyone to keep quiet and erased all the security footage.

“I-I’m calling for help. You’d better get out of here.” Chadwick scrunched up his face, dodging Icarus’s hand.

Icarus snorted. “Help?”

His grin disappeared in an instant. He spat on the ground, his voice turning nasty. “Who do you think you are?”

He raised his hand.

Just as Icarus was about to smack Chadwick across the face, Chadwick screwed his eyes shut, ready to take the hit, but instinctively shouted, “Stella.”

Suddenly, someone raced in from the distance, moving like a bullet.

As if they had sensed trouble, Caiden and the others spun around, just in time to see Stella’s foot slam into Icarus’s stomach with a flying kick.

Icarus never even touched Chadwick; he went flying and crashed to the ground.

Stella landed lightly, slipping her hands into her pockets with cool indifference. She glanced up at Chadwick, her voice lazy. “Did you call for me?”

Chadwick was frozen.

Declan showed up late, speechless.

Caiden and the others were also in shock.

“Goddammit. Get her.” Icarus was curled up on the ground, clutching his stomach in agony, looking like a total mess.

He didn’t even notice that every single thug was staring at Stella, eyes wide in shock, hands trembling so badly that they could barely hold onto their baseball bats.

They thought, ‘No fucking way. That’s the badass girl.’

The next second, Icarus felt his scalp explode. His hair was grabbed, his head forced up, locking eyes with Stella.

Suddenly, she sneered.

Meanwhile, things were about to get wild at Technical High School.

Chadwick just called Troy. “Icarus and his men are coming after Stella.”

Troy spun around sharply. The moment he said it, his people, who had been sitting tight under his pressure, stopped everything instantly.

Even the teacher up front sensed the shift in the room and cut himself off mid-sentence.

Leonardo, who had been sitting with eyes closed, suddenly stood up, rapping the desk sharply. “Call everyone.”

“Got it,” Troy said.

All the guys sprang up as one, their black jackets hanging loose on their shoulders. They formed up behind Leonardo and marched straight out of the classroom.

The instant Leonardo stepped into the hallway, guys in Technical High School uniforms started pouring out of every classroom, falling in behind him without a word.

By the time they reached the first floor, the hallway was flooded, and the whole scene looked absolutely epic.

At the same time, Tony, the big shot of Haliville, sat up straight in a Land Rover heading toward Edenbury Academy, looking nervous.

Next to him, three old men were huddled together, whispering to each other.

Tony was secretly listening.

“Dashiell, will our meeting with the Young Sovereign go smoothly today?” Halcyon was so nervous. He pressed his fingers together.

Dashiell smiled. “Give me a moment.”

He closed his eyes and started to ponder. Soon, he frowned, looking confused.

Jareth asked, “What’s wrong? Did something go wrong?”
