Stella sat in silence for a while. “Got it,” she said. With that, she walked out of the bar.

“Did Young Sovereign say yes or not?” Jareth frowned, watching stella’s figure disappear. He exchanged a look with Halcyon, then turned to Dashiell. “Hey, Dashiell, why don’t you give it another shot and see what you can figure out?”

On Sandridge Island, the villa was dead quiet. On the wall, the lile shark clock was ticking away. Not far away, Lucas was totally glued to it, eyes locked on every movement.

His cute, chubby face was all serious, lips pressed tight in concentration, just watching the minute hand go round and round the clock face. Suddenly, the hour hand and the minute hand lined up perfectly.

Lucas’s serious little face instantly lit up, and he turned into the most adorable munchkin, cupping his cheeks with both hands. It felt like the air was filled with rainbow bubbles of joy.

‘Class is over, and Stella’s coming back. Yay!’ Lucas cheered inside, his heart bubbling over with excitement. Just as Lucas was basking in his happy little world, he heard a car pull up outside.

Instantly, he bolted out the door, his tiny feet thumping eagerly cross the floor. ‘Stella!’ Lucas cheered in his mind, his heart bursting with excitement. He threw open the door, arms outstretched, then suddenly stopped in his tracks.

“Lucas, you actually came out to welcome me? I’m so emotional right now. I could literally cry.” Allan was teary-eyed at Lucas’s enthusiasm, bending down, all set to scoop him up.

But in the very next second, Lucas slipped away with that too-cool-for-you attitude. ‘Nope. Not having it,’ Lucas thought, totally unimpressed.

Lucas stood on tiptoe, waiting until he was sure Sebastian had gotten out, and no one else was coming. Suddenly, he looked like a cartoon character that had been instantly darkened by a shadow. His whole vibe went from bright to completely deflated.

Lucas plopped down on the steps, chin in hand, looking all mopey. Waiting for Stella! He sighed, still hoping she’d show up.

With a rustle, Snowball peeked out from the tree nearby and lazily slithered over to Lucas. It coiled itself into a mini couch right next to Lucas, so he could lounge comfortably and relax even more.

Not far away, Big Ben and Scrappy called out Sebastian in unison. Then, their narrowed eyes locked in a glare, and the tension between them became so thick you could almost hear the static crackle.

Big Ben snorted. “Hmph!” It had the peregrine falcon chilling on its head..

Scrappy snorted right back, “Hmph!” Then, it started forcing open Simba’s massive jaws and stuffing food in, one spoonful after another.

Simba gave a slow, adorable blink. It munched away, making cute sounds. Its tail swished happily from side to side. ‘Damn, that’s tasty.

The plain plant was acting all sneaky, sticking its leaves right into the iced coffee next to it like a little rascal. It was just chilling, living its best life.

Allan, who’d seen the whole thing unfold, could only stare in disbelief. He looked like they wanted to say something, but held back. He was starting to question his own sanity.

“Ugh, I’m so dizzy. Must’ve just overdone it today. I need a break Allan went full drama mode, clutching his chest, and headed inside the villa.

Lucas didn’t even spare him a glance. He propped his chin on his hand, looking all mopey. Suddenly, a shadow loomed beside him. Then, a crumbling sound came from nowhere. Lucas fell silent, whipping his head around.

It was Sebastian, dressed in a black shirt, sitting right next to him clutching Stella’s cream cookie jar to his chest and taking bites with a completely blank face.

Sebastian said, “You want some or not?” His voice was icy cold. He asked Lucas, but was busy pulling the cookie jar even closer to his chest, not even making a move to share. He obviously had zero intention of letting Lucas have any.

Lucas reached out his little hand and said, “Gimme.”

Sebastian, caught off guard, looked momentarily awkward. Two seconds later, Sebastian brushed Lucas’s hand aside with a frosty look. “Nope, you’re not getting any.”

Lucas squinted, then let out a dramatic puff, his cheeks ballooning in protest. He was like an angry, sulky pufferfish.

Snowball, sprawled out behind them and using itself as a pillow, lazily cracked open one eye and gave Sebastian a look. “Tsk, what a bastard, Snowball thought, totally unimpressed.

Suddenly, the rumble of a motorbike engine got louder and louder, rolling in from the distance. Just a moment ago, Lucas was sulking like a grumpy little pufferfish, but as soon as he heard that engine, his eyes sparkled, and he was all smiles.

Right when Stella’s silhouette became visible, a cream cookie jar was shoved straight into Lucas’s arms.

‘Did someone just set me up?’ Lucas wondered, totally confused. He looked down and just froze, completely blanking out.

The cream cookie jar, which had been stuffed to the brim just a second ago, was now eaten down to the last crumb. Lucas’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. He was absolutely stunned by how shameless Sebastian could be.
