Chapter 379
It was all so sudden.
The dark energy around Stella faded a bit, and she seemed to be in a better mood. “Yeah,” she replied.
She was sleepy.
Sebastian stood behind the sofa, his cool, slender fingers weaving through her soft, fluffy hair.

Stella tilted her head back on purpose, trapping his hand beneath her hair, and gazed up at his stunning face. Her lashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
This was her sugar daddy, after all.
“Five school buildings, and 60 million on top of that?” Stella asked.
Sebastian, caught off guard, looked momentarily awkward. He didn’t even have to guess; it had to be Allan, that blabbermouth.
Stella raised an eyebrow, her smile lazy and teasing. “Mr. Gray, were you here for me right from the start?”
She deliberately dragged out the last word.
Sebastian froze.
The morning sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a soft glow over her makeup-free face.
With her flawless skin and that crisp white shirt, she looked so sweet and innocent that it was almost unreal. But somehow, seeing her like this gave Sebastian a rush of guilty pleasure.
The next second, Sebastian lifted her up by the waist.
Stella froze.
He flipped her over and set her down on the very top of the sofa back.
The contrast between his black shirt and her white one was striking.
“Mr. Gray, the morning meeting’s about to start. If you’re planning to get handsy with me,” Stella lazily twirled Sebastian’s tie around her finger, her whole vibe relaxed and teasing. “Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”
Sebastian’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, reacting to every little move of her fingers.
She was doing it on purpose.
She was exhausted, and she wasn’t about to let him have it easy, either.
She was such a little devil.
Stella grinned and hooked her arms around Sebastian’s neck, siting up straight and showing off her graceful figure.
Sebastian frowned. Worried she might slip, he grabbed her waist on both sides to steady her.
“Stop messing around!” Sebastian felt a sudden warmth rush through his chest.
Stella swung her legs in the air, absently kicking at Sebastian from time to time. “You’re no fun,” she said, sounding bored.

Sebastian shot her a look. He reached out and took hold of her wrist.

Stella lowered her lashes, and when she felt a sudden coolness of her wrist, her kicking stopped. She looked up to see Sebastian, moving with a kind of reverence, gently winding a strand of beads around her wrist, loop by loop.
“Afraid I’ll run off?” Stella let out a soft laugh.
Sebastian frowned, glancing at her again. His long fingers brushed over each dark bead, and against her delicate skin, the beads looked even more expensive, almost like they were madest for her.
“Stay with me forever.” His voice was low and serious.
He wore the prayer beads because of Bernard, but Sebastian never really believed in God.
Not until Stella showed up and turned his world upside down. Now, he couldn’t help but worry. ‘What if one day she woke up and turned into someone else all over again?’.
“But what if I just suddenly stop liking you?” Stella said, half-joking.
She raised her wrist, checking out the beads.
She could tell from the script. They were all about nurturing and locking in the soul, keeping it safe from any outside energy messing with it.
‘Seriously, does he think I’m some kind of ghost?’ Stella thought
In a split second, Sebastian’s face darkened.
Sebastian, already so insecure, looked like a dark overlord shrouded in shadows. The whole boardroom felt so cold that it could freeze over, and even the air seemed to thin out.
Sebastian couldn’t even let himself imagine that scenario.
When he stayed silent for so long, Stella paused and glanced up only to see Sebastian across from her, his eyes red, barely holding back his rage.
Stella was caught off guard for a moment.
The next second, Sebastian grabbed her and hugged her fiercely
“Don’t ever joke about that!” he burst out. His voice was strained, full of a vulnerability he couldn’t hide. “Stella.”
He hugged her so tightly that the prayer beads on her wrist rattled. If that didn’t show how serious Sebastian was, nothing would.
She was just about to speak when his rough voice whispered rig in her ear, “I’ll change.”
“Change what?” Stella blinked, genuinely puzzled.
“Anything you don’t like about me, I’ll change,” Sebastian said, pressing his forehead to hers, his voice hoarse and his eyes shining with raw vulnerability.
Stella froze. His long lashes fluttered softly.
Sebastian leaned in, planting soft kisses at the corner of her lips over and over. His eyes were right there, full of emotion, and his handsome, brooding face was all serious and devoted.
Their fingers intertwined, holding on tight.

Downstairs, out on the playground, Stella walked up to Class 3’squad, hands stuffed in her pockets, her prayer beads jingling on her wrist with every step.
Suddenly, someone yelled, “Stella’s here!”
The voices rose and fell around her like waves. Stella casually looked up and saw a bunch of guys in Technical High School uniforms grinning at her.
Leading the group was the generous guy who’d mess up five out of eight problems and still hand out cash.
Stella answered, “Morning.”
She moved with a lazy, almost careless air. She glanced at the stage out of the corner of her eye.
Sebastian, stone-faced in his suit, strode over. He was shaking hands with Houston when he suddenly paused, like he sensed something. He turned his head, eyes scanning the crowd, and zeroed in on Stella right away.
Their eyes met, but this time, Sebastian was the first to break eye contact.
Stella froze. ‘Sebastian is getting way too cocky with all this pampering,’ she thought.
“Th-this is Stella!” Stella was snapped out of her thoughts by the moisy protests nearby, catching Chadwick stumbling over his words as he hurried after Declan.
Leonardo threw an arm around Chadwick’s shoulders like he was scooping up a baby chick, totally at ease. “Come on, what’s with this? We’re on Edenbury Academy turf now. Stella belongs to all of us!”
Chadwick just stared, totally lost for words.
Declan looked over at Stella. “You on extended leave or something?”
He’d just overheard Zack talking to Jude about it.
“Yeah,” Stella replied, her voice flat and emotionless.
Declan pressed his lips together. “How long?”
Stella was starting to get annoyed, but since she was talking to the 10 million guy, she bit back her impatience. “Three months.”
At least, it was three months.
