Chapter 430

Those two were just too dazzling.

They looked like characters straight out of a comic book, and all eyes were on them the second they appeared.

Especially when Stella got bumped by an old guy in the crowd, and Sebastian scooped her right into his arms. The whole scene was such a visual feast that Tallulah’s heart couldn’t help but race.

Not to mention the way that the limited-edition DenimKraft green gown floated so elegantly at that moment.

Sebastian looked down at her. “You okay?”

He reached out without thinking and adjusted her skirt for her.

Stella gave a smile and shook her head. The chemistry between them was unreal. She slipped her hand into Sebastian’s and kept walking forward, cool as ever.

Sebastian pressed his lips together, fighting the urge that was bubbling up inside him.

Suddenly, Stella stopped in her tracks and glared at Tallulah.

Tallulah couldn’t help but feel a chill running down her.

How could she even describe those eyes? Cold. Scary.

For a split second, Karson and the others turned to glare at Tallulah, their brows furrowing in annoyance. Tallulah was totally confused and had no idea what she had done wrong.

“Move,” Stella said, her voice cold as ice. “You’re blocking the way.”

The two of them locked eyes.

Tallulah stepped aside immediately, making way for Stella.

As they passed each other, the air practically crackled with tension.

A chilly, faint scent lingered as Tallulah breathed in, sending goosebumps racing up her neck and leaving her mind blank. Even after Stella was out of sight, she found herself turning involuntarily, just to catch another glimpse of her.

Tallulah watched as Stella, led by the staff, sat down in the seat where her name tag had just been torn off.

Everyone was stunned, especially Tallulah.

The socialites who’d been chatting with Tallulah moments ago were now whispering to each other. They cast her awkward glances. Her whole explanation sounded ridiculous.

At the main table, Karson whispered, “Moon, do you have beef with Tallulah?” As he leaned in, a little hand

blocked him right on the spot.

Karson thought, ‘Like uncle, like niece! They’re carbon copies!’

Stella lazily glanced up and slid the pastries on the table over to Lucas. Lucas instantly turned into the sweetest boy, his chubby hands gripping the pastry like a kitten’s paws as he took tiny bites.

“No, I don’t,” Stella replied.

Karson rubbed his chin. “Yeah. The Reed family is nothing. Of course, you wouldn’t care.”

Calvin said, “Dad!” He put on a fake smile and gave Karson a look, silently warning him to watch what he said. After all, they were out in public.

Karson snorted. “Seriously? If she loves being a socialite so much, why bother coming to the Restoration Department? She barely showed up at work, and even bought…”

Just then, a little voice chimed in next to him. “Press releases.”

“Yeah! Press releases! And all that talks about being the youngest, the most elegant expert! Pfft! What makes Tallulah the youngest when Moon’s right here?” Karson wouldn’t stop running his mouth.

Calvin was sweating bullets, thinking, ‘Why did I jump in? Now Dad’s on a roll and there’s no stopping him!’

He looked miserable and gave Stella a pleading look, hoping she’d bail him out.

Stella handed Karson a cup of coffee. “Have some coffee.” And that was her way of telling him to zip it.

In an instant, Karson shut his mouth, grinning as he took the coffee. All the big shots around him looked at him with envy.

Even though the coffee from Jaffina Channel was just the most run-of-the-mill stuff.

“Tallulah’s got some calligraphy skills. I’ve seen it. Just like Ms. Carter, she can write with both hands. But… Camden, sitting at the same table, trailed off with a smile and a shake of his head, leaving the rest unsaid.

Her calligraphy might look fancy at first glance, but it was just an empty style.

There was no soul at all.

She just put on a show.

Stella let out a lazy “mm,” shot a look at the stage. “The gala is getting started.”

In the back row, Tallulah, who was usually composed, found herself getting flustered and anxious thanks to this sudden twist. Since phones were banned in the studio, she kept checking her smartwatch.

Finally, an “OK” emoji flashed on her screen.

Tallulah let out a sigh of relief.

The overhead timer had started its five-second countdown, and right then, nobody realized that after a few more acts, a little mishap was waiting to put the whole live broadcast crew to the test.

Half an hour passed.

Backstage, Callum, fully prepped and ready to go, turned to the staff member, who was sweating bullets. “What did you just say?” he asked.

The staff member stammered, “The calligraphy teacher had an accident and hurt his hand. He was sent to the hospital. Your act’s been delayed. We’re trying to see if we can find another teacher to fill in.”

Callum felt unfortunate.

“Give me a pen and paper!” Callum pressed his lips together, jotted down a quick note on the paper his assistant handed him, and handed it right back to her. “Go up front and find someone for me.”

Up front, Stella caught Lachlan out of the corner of her eye in the studio. His eyes went wide with shock after hearing something, and he yanked off his headphones, talking urgently with the staff.

Whatever it was, it was clearly something serious.

“Callum’s up next,” Karson said, double-checking the program schedule on the table. But before he could finish, Stella’s lazy voice cut in. “It’s been postponed.”
