Chapter 5
“Stop playing dead!”
Holden kicked open the bedroom door and thrown me heavily onto the bed.
My back hitting the mattress hard enough to bounce.
My stomach churned.
Most of that drink went into Jade’s mouth, but the few gulps forced into me were potent.
Holden locked the door behind him.
“Sutton Law, didn’t you love reciting laws?”
“Go ahead, recite now.”
“For every law you recite, I’ll take off one piece of clothing.”
His eyes were cloudy–clearly he was affected too.
I bit through my tongue, the searing pain bringing back a sliver of clarity as I struggled to prop myself up.
“According to Criminal Law Article 236… forcing sexual relations against a woman’s will… carries a sentence of three to ten years.”
“Hahaha!” Holden suddenly laughed maniacally.
“Still reciting? There’s no cameras here, no witnesses!”
“I’ve got money, I’ll hire the best lawyers!”
“I’ll just say you were willing, or that you seduced me. Who’s gonna believe you?!”
He lunged forward suddenly, his hands clamping around my throat.
“Cough…”
I clawed desperately at his arms, my nails digging into his flesh.
“Let… let go…”
Holden’s face twisted grotesquely:
“So now you’re scared? Weren’t you so arrogant downstairs?”
“Jade’s just a whore I’m playing with–you’re the main course for me!”
“After I ruin you, I’ll break off the engagement. Your dad’s three–hundred–million–dollar hole? That’ll be your death sentence!”
I stopped struggling, my right hand slowly reaching for my pants pocke.
There was a backup syringe filled with high–concentration capsaicin solution.

originally meant for self–defense, now my only weapon.
“What? Giving up?”
Holden thought I’d surrendered, so he released one hand to tear at my top.
“That’s right, bitch.”
“Service me properly, do a good job and maybe I’ll throw your family a hundred grand.”
Rip-
My shirt tore open.
NOW!
I jerked my hand up and drove the needle deep into his shoulder.
“AHHH-!”
Holden let out an inhuman shriek.
The capsaicin solution flooded his muscle tissue–pain more intense than burning fire.
He rolled off the bed clutching his shoulder.
“You fucking bitch! You stabbed me! I’m gonna kill you!”
I rolled off the bed, grabbed the lamp, and smashed it on the floor.
Picking up a sharp piece of glass and pressing it against my carotid artery.
“Don’t come closer!”
I backed against the wall, breathing hard.
“If you take one more step, I’ll cut right through! Die on your bed!”
“Add the drugs downstairs to that–you think the Chase family can protect you then?”
Holden was drenched in cold sweat from the pain, but he grabbed the bed frame and stood up.
“Threatening me?”
“You think death gets you out of this?”
“I’ll call those guys in right now–they’ll run a train on you! Even if you’re a corpse, I won’t let you go!”
I just let out a cold smile:
“Sure, call them!”
“Let’s see what arrives first–your buddies or the cops!”

Chapter 5
A massive crash came from downstairs, followed by chaotic footsteps and police sirens piercing through the walls, sharp and shrill.
Holden’s face went pale.
“Impossible… This is private property… How could there be cops?”
I said nothing, just stared him down.
The glass shard in my hand didn’t budge an inch.
Even as blood trickled down my neck.
I had to stay conscious until the cops showed up at my face!
