“You defeated Kayden Wright in the Arena Challenge. Rewards: Vitality +40, Agility +20, and Spirit +40.”
She didn’t steal his most important stat, Strength.
But his agility dropped by another 20 points.
Perfect.
Joanna sneered. “Before this, I didn’t even have a summoned beast, and you still couldn’t beat me. Now that I do, you really don’t stand a chance.”
She went on, her voice cold. “Believe it or not, even without my summoned beast, I could beat you myself and slam you into the ground.
“I used to go easy on you. That’s why you got arrogant. Now you think you can touch me again? Dream on. You’ll never catch up to me. Not in this lifetime.”
She lifted her chin with clear disdain.
“Not convinced? Want another match? I won’t use my summoned beast. If you lose, you pay ten million. How about that?”
But right after saying it, she hesitated, like she had just talked too big. She quickly added, “Forget it. I don’t have time to waste. Unless you bet 1,000 attribute points, this isn’t worth my time.
“I already won. There’s no need to argue with you again. And remember, before the SAT, don’t come bother me.”
She was ready to leave.
Instead, Kayden snapped, “Wait. One more match. Best of three.”
“I’m not fighting,” Joanna replied calmly. “Next thing you know, you’ll ask for best of five.”
Kayden clenched his teeth. “Joanna, you’re short on money right now, aren’t you? Ten million. One more Arena Challenge.”
Joanna hesitated.

“Am I allowed to bring my summoned beast?”
Kayden forced down his anger and mocked her instead.
“Didn’t
you just say you wouldn’t use one? Ten million. Open Challenge. Your words.”
Joanna looked awkward. People around them began to talk.
“Forget it, girl. You already won. A summoner without a summoned beast can’t fight properly.”
“That’s right. Let it go.”
“Yeah, why push her like this?”
Kayden, on the other hand, looked pleased and pressed harder.
He had to win. If he couldn’t take Joanna down before the SAT, it would be even harder after.
A duel dungeon appeared in the sky.
Players nearby gasped. Some spent 10 Starcoins to enter the spectator seats. Half of those Starcoins would go to the winner.
Only a little over 20 people entered.
As soon as they got in, the spectators shouted.
“Girl, he just learned Blood Rage!”
“That’s dirty! He learned a skill right before the fight! He can heal now. How are you supposed to beat him?”
A few experienced players began to analyze. “That Summoner is in trouble. She’s wearing the Venom Spider Lady’s Gown. That set only boosts Spider Silk Protection and Summon Enhancement. Without her summoned beast, it’s useless. Meanwhile, that warrior is wearing a full Fury set. Max-level Silver-tier gear. It boosts attack range and defense. And now with Blood Rage, his recovery will be terrifying.”
The ten-second preparation countdown was almost over.
Joanna began summoning.
For 1,000 attribute points, showing a hidden card was worth it. Besides, a unique level-10 dungeon item was only worth a few million. No big deal.
She summoned the ghostly Crimson Throne.
Because Symbiotic Link was disabled, her stats dropped sharply. She immediately equipped the Memory Tome.
The Memory Tome floated around her, while the Crimson Throne boosted her movement speed.
A Summoner was also a ranged class. At her level, Spirit Lash had a range of about 60 feet.
Kayden was a level 13 warrior. How far could he strike?
