After Conrad delivered his furious ultimatum, Remington barely reacted, but Cedric, who had just returned from the room, had heard enough.

Stepping up right behind his boss, Cedric scoffed openly.

"Wow, some people really have thick skin. Has our boss's wife even acknowledged you as her father?"

Cedric had heard exactly how Lizetta addressed Conrad.

She called him by his full name. God only knew how terribly this gold-digging husband must have treated her for someone as polite and refined as Lizetta to coldly drop the title of 'father' entirely.

Putting everything else aside, the fact that Conrad kept a venomous snake like Eartha by his side and pampered a fake heiress while throwing out his real daughter proved he was a terrible father.

Did he really think he had the authority to dictate who Lizetta dated? Talk about delusions of grandeur.

"I am her biological father. I gave her life. That is an undeniable fact, whether she formally acknowledges it or not!"

Conrad glared daggers at Cedric, his voice turning lethal.

"Who the hell do you think you are? You're just a lowly assistant. Do you really think you have the right to speak here?"

Cedric rolled his eyes dramatically.

"Yes, yes, I'm just a lowly assistant. Definitely not worthy of speaking to the high-and-mighty Mr. West."

Lowering his head, Cedric muttered just loudly enough to carry.

"At least I'm not a man who joined his wife's family for their wealth and still paraded his mistress around like royalty."

Though he pretended to mumble it to himself, the corridor was dead silent. Both Conrad and Eartha heard every single word.

Instantly, their faces drained of color.

He only dared to be this ruthless because he knew Lizetta loathed her father, and he could see his own boss was practically itching to destroy the couple.

He wasn't stupid. Why wouldn't he gleefully humiliate the Madden Group executive when his boss so clearly hated him?

Cedric smirked. "Oh, I'm so terrified. But unfortunately for you, I only take orders from Mr. Dashiell, and I seriously doubt he gives a damn what you want."

Conrad's head throbbed with unadulterated fury. He let out a dark laugh.

"I've never seen an assistant with such a death wish. I suppose trash naturally attracts trash."

Turning his furious gaze back to Remington, Conrad demanded.

"Fire him right now, and I will consider letting you continue seeing Lizetta, simply as repayment for you saving her life. How about it?"
