Lizetta hurriedly said, "Grandpa, what are you talking about? If anyone is to blame, it's the people with evil intentions. How could it possibly be your fault? Even ancient emperors had a few treacherous officials scheming right under their noses. Besides, I'm perfectly fine now, and I'm back by your and Grandma's side. Please don't ruin your health over worthless people and trivial matters. Grandma and I would be heartbroken."
Smiling, she looked over at the other screen.
"Isn't that right, Grandma?"
Mrs. Bernice Madden listened to her granddaughter more than anyone else. Meeting Lizetta's gaze, she immediately nodded in vigorous agreement.
Jerome, standing off to the side, finally chimed in.
"I'm standing right here, you know. Are you two just treating me like I'm invisible? Ganging up to ice me out of the family isn't going to fly."
As the man spoke, he casually rested his arm over Nelson's shoulder, leaning down slightly to enter the frame of the tablet.
Lizetta quickly added, "Oh, right, and Jerome! Jerome, while you're over there, make sure you keep a close eye on Grandpa. Make him take his blood pressure and heart meds. He always turns around and completely forgets."
Amusement flickered in Jerome's eyes. "I'll set ten different alarms for him."
"Perfect, that's exactly what he needs," Lizetta agreed instantly.
Nelson looked utterly exasperated, but whatever lingering frustration he had was completely washed away by their playful banter.
"You two... neither of you is married or even dating, so you just spend all your energy tormenting your old Grandpa, huh?"
Hearing this, Lizetta raised an eyebrow and looked meaningfully at Jerome. She remembered what Remington had told her earlier—about how Jerome had been seen having a private rendezvous with a beautiful woman in a VIP room, a situation that looked anything but simple.
"Grandpa, you really don't need to worry about that. You raised Jerome to be such an incredible man; there's a whole ocean of gorgeous, wonderful women practically lining up to marry him. Who knows, maybe he'll bring a beautiful granddaughter-in-law home to meet you very soon."
Her words carried a clear, teasing implication. Nelson immediately turned his head to stare at Jerome.
"Is there someone special?"
Jerome had a pretty good idea why Lizetta was saying this, though the reality wasn't quite what she imagined.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
