The man's eyes flooded with desperate pleading in an instant. Lizetta felt her throat tighten. "But..."
"There are no 'buts'. She might be my mother, but when I needed her, she never once acted like one. She hurt me and abandoned me time and time again. The moment she chose to sacrifice my child for the sake of another son, any bond between us was completely destroyed."
One was the woman who had given birth to him only to inflict endless pain upon him.
The other was the woman who loved him with everything she had, the woman he had repeatedly broken.
When it came to Hanna, Remington knew exactly where his loyalties lay without a single shred of doubt.
He would never let Hanna be the reason the woman he loved, the woman he owed a lifetime of protection and devotion, suffered another injustice.
Lizetta looked at Remington. "But... she's your mother. What will people say about you? How will they judge you?"
Remington kept his arms locked around her waist and arched an eyebrow smoothly.
"I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. If you feel bad for me, just love me a little harder..."
Lizetta smacked his shoulder, thinking that he truly was a businessman to his core—always knowing how to negotiate a profit for himself.
"Alright, so what exactly happened to Hanna?"
Remington pressed his lips together, sitting in silence for a brief moment before answering.
"She's in a psychiatric facility. Liz, if that outcome isn't enough for you, if you want to take this through the legal system, I..."
Hanna's actions were more than enough to put her behind bars.
But the Dashiell family simply couldn't afford a scandal of that magnitude. At the time, he had actually considered going to the police.
It just wasn't that simple.
Hanna going to prison would have a massive, destructive impact on both the family and the Starlight Group. Nathan would never have allowed it.
Even Fiona would have fought him on it.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
