Inside the room, Lizetta had already heard Ron's cries from the hallway.
The moment Cedric walked in, she asked anxiously.
"Is that Ron? Why is he crying so hysterically all of a sudden?"
Cedric nodded. "Mrs. Dashiell, Ms. West brought Ron here."
Cedric repeated Stella's words, causing a cold sneer to form in Lizetta's heart.
This was only because she had already made her peace with Ron's true identity. Had she still been hung up on it, Stella wouldn't have hesitated to use the baby to trigger her, not even sparing her while she was supposed to be in a coma.
Remington's voice was low and commanding as he told Cedric, "Tell her to get the hell out."
Lizetta waved her hand dismissively. "Don't. I actually really miss Ron. And why is he crying harder? Isn't Winnie still taking care of him?"
Winnie was the nanny Remington had arranged specifically for the baby.
Remington nodded. "Two days ago, the West family went over and brought both Ron and Winnie back to their estate. With Winnie there, Ron won't be mistreated."
But he had been entirely focused on caring for Lizetta the past couple of days and hadn't paid much attention to the baby's situation.
Lizetta still felt uneasy. She said,
"Didn't Stella say Ron might help wake me up? Perfect. You can use this as an excuse to keep Ron here for a few more days."
Remington was less than thrilled.
While he was fond of Ron, he vastly preferred having Lizetta all to himself.
He had only pushed so hard to keep Ron around before because the baby was his guaranteed ticket to getting Lizetta to stay at Oakridge Heights.
But now, wouldn't keeping Ron here just steal Lizetta's attention away from him?
He stayed silent, brooding. Lizetta bypassed him entirely, looking straight at Cedric.
"Let her in."
She turned back to Remington. "Weren't we suspecting a connection between the West family and Eartha Porter Madden? This is the perfect chance to test her."
Remington felt a pang of helplessness. He shot Cedric a sidelong glance.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
