Aside from looking a little out of place, it didn't give anything away.
Fortunately, Remington still had the cuts on his hands from smashing the car window, so a bandaged injury on his neck wouldn't draw too much suspicion.
Lizetta slipped into the hospital bed, lying flat, and flashed Cedric an 'OK' sign.
Cedric stepped out. A moment later, Stella followed him back into the room.
She was holding Ron, whose face was still streaked with tears, and wore an expression of profound sorrow.
As soon as she entered the room, Stella's eyes darted hungrily toward the bed.
Lizetta looked frail, lying perfectly still beneath the covers. The stark white sheets and blanket only emphasized her deathly pale complexion.
Remington sat by the bed, his back to the door, an immovable silhouette of depression and isolation. He held Lizetta's hand in a vice grip.
He didn't even turn his head when Stella walked in.
Just the sight of his back conveyed an overwhelming devotion to the woman lying there.
Stella's heart burned with jealousy and hatred, though beneath it, she was utterly elated.
So what if Lizetta had Remington's love? She didn't have the luck to enjoy it.
Given her current state, the best-case scenario was that Lizetta remained in a vegetative state. The worst-case—which Stella hoped for—was that her heart simply stopped while she slept.
She actively prayed for the coma. Dying instantly would have let Lizetta off too easy.
Being a vegetable was perfect. One day, Stella would march right up to that hospital bed and whisper in Lizetta's ear that she had taken her place as Mrs. Dashiell.
Thinking about it almost made Stella's face split into a triumphant, gleeful smile.
She forced herself to suppress her emotions.
But in doing so, her grip tightened involuntarily, squeezing the baby in her arms too hard.
Ron burst into agonizing wails again, the piercing cries shattering the room's dead silence.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
