Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1152

Catching her clear look of warning, Remington paused before finishing his thought.

"In short, Liz has an impeccable character. Everyone in Zion City can vouch for her. She doesn't have a cynical bone in her body! It seems the only one constantly degrading his supposedly beloved daughter and dragging her name through the mud is you, Mr. West."

Since walking into the room, Remington had remained a quiet observer, keeping his opinions to himself.

After all, this was an internal dispute of the Madden Group.

Though many recognized him, they had been secretly guessing his motive for being there.

But no one could figure out exactly what his role was in all of this.

Hearing that Lizetta was actually raised by Fiona Dashiell sent a shockwave through the room.

"Didn't they say she suffered out there? She grew up with the Dashiell family?"

"The Dashiell family in Zion City is leaps and bounds more powerful than the Maddens. How is that suffering?"

"So she has a deep connection with the Dashiells!"

"If she was raised by Mrs. Dashiell, her character is flawless. She would never falsely accuse her own father."

...

The murmurs left Conrad and Eartha suffocating in panic.

Eartha, who had been on the verge of a fake fainting spell, didn't even dare to collapse now.

Tears streamed down her face as she offered a weak defense.

But knowing she had nearly drowned in the freezing depths of a lake, only for him to stubbornly defend the prime suspect, sent a suffocating wave of despair through her.

Conrad flushed with indignation. "Lizetta! You need evidence for a murder accusation! Otherwise, it is outright slander. Your stepmother has every right to sue you for defamation, but she holds back because she loves you. Stop being so ungrateful!"

Furious, Conrad raised a hand, pointing an accusatory finger right at Lizetta's face.

Before the gesture could land, Remington seized his wrist with punishing force.

With a slight tightening of his grip, he forced Conrad's hand down at a painful, unnatural angle.

Conrad's face drained of color as agony flared. He glared at Remington in sheer disbelief.

He was Lizetta's father—how dared Remington assault him so openly?
