Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1153

Meeting his shocked gaze, Remington smirked coldly. "I despise it when people point fingers at her. I don't care who it is."

With a dismissive shove, he released Conrad's hand.

Conrad gasped, rubbing his throbbing wrist. His dignity was entirely shattered in front of the board.

Face cycling through shades of red and pale white, he heard Remington's amused voice ring out again.

"However, I do agree with Mr. West on one thing."

Conrad froze, mentally reviewing his own words.

He couldn't fathom which part Remington was agreeing with.

Assuming Remington was trying to smooth over the physical altercation by giving him an out, Conrad cleared his throat and adjusted his suit jacket.

"Well, naturally, my perspective is grounded in reason..."

Remington cut through his inflated ego with a mocking sneer. "You mentioned that we should rely on the authorities, prioritize evidence, and trust the police investigation. I think those are excellent points."

Conrad blinked, thoroughly bewildered. What was he playing at?

The sudden emphasis on the police gave Conrad an incredibly bad feeling.

Just as a cold dread settled in his stomach, a heavy series of footsteps echoed from the corridor.

Remington arched a brow and steadied Nelson Madden. "Mr. Madden, things might get a little chaotic in here. We wouldn't want the noise to stress you and Mrs. Bernice Madden. Liz, why don't you escort your grandparents to the seats by the window?"

Lizetta nodded and carefully guided the elderly couple to the chairs near the far side of the conference table.

The Porter family instantly tensed. The patriarch shot a frantic look at his eldest son, signaling him to check outside.
