But right at that moment, the sound of footsteps echoed from the hallway.
Lizetta immediately recognized the heavy tread—it was Grandpa Nelson, and he was walking straight toward her room.
Her eyes flew open, her face burning crimson with panic. She frantically slapped at the man's broad shoulders.
When he ignored her, she resorted to yanking his hair again.
"Mmm... my grand... mmm!"
She tried to force the words out, but Remington caught both of her wrists, pinned them above her head against the door, and pressed his body flush against hers.
Lizetta was forced to stand perfectly straight, their bodies melded together seamlessly.
Her eyes widened in shock. Before she could make a sound, the man finally pulled back, breaking the kiss.
Lizetta gasped for air, but before she could even sigh in relief, his lips brushed against hers, his breath scorching hot as he whispered.
"Shh. He's here."
His voice was incredibly low and husky. Before Lizetta could process his words, his mouth crashed down on hers again, kissing her even deeper, refusing to let her go.
At the exact same time, she heard Nelson's footsteps stop right outside her bedroom door.
Her grandfather was standing inches away on the other side of the wood!
The realization sent a terrifying jolt through her spine.
She stared at Remington, convinced he had completely lost his mind.
Her grandfather already hated him enough to kill him, and now he was pulling a stunt like this?!
Was this his reckless way of punishing her just because she mentioned breaking up?
Her eyes were filled with sheer terror, yet she didn't dare struggle enough to make a sound. She settled for biting his lip as a warning.
But Remington acted as if he felt absolutely no pain. Instead, he deepened the kiss with a maddening intensity, even letting out soft, suggestive sounds of approval.
The footsteps shifted slightly.
And then...
*Knock, knock.*
Nelson was knocking on the door!

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
