It was obvious she still had doubts. The reason she eventually insisted she heard wrong was likely because she didn't want to be interrogated by you again, and coupled with her own uncertainty, she just changed her tune."

Ray had noticed exactly what Remington was pointing out, and frustration washed over his features.

"So, she really did hear the baby's cry back then."

Remington's tone was heavy. "When Joy was born, Nurse Sarah was in the closest position, but immediately after, she was dispatched to fetch blood. The other doctor stationed by the operating table was sent off to deliver the umbilical cord at the exact same time."

Ray caught on immediately. "Meaning, during that specific window, there was actually only one doctor left at the table. She had the perfect opportunity to swap the boy with a prepared stillborn without anyone noticing!"

That was exactly what Remington had concluded.

But so much time had passed, and facing such a miraculous turnaround, Remington couldn't help but worry he was overthinking things, losing his rationality.

"Whether Joy is really alive or not, a DNA test will clear everything up."
