Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 1312

Lizetta watched him. "I'm not a picky eater. Anything is fine. But seriously, what's with the sudden shift in attitude?"

In the past, Joseph had always treated her like a buddy, calling her by her first name as if it made them closer.

Now, he was suddenly acting like a proper, respectful in-law, and Lizetta wasn't quite used to it.

Joseph turned to face her, his expression entirely serious.

"Well, Joy is back. If I keep treating you like a casual friend, what is Joy supposed to call me? His uncle on your side or his uncle on Remington's side? He already has an uncle in your family, so I'd much rather secure my spot as his Uncle Joseph on his dad's side."

As he spoke, he stepped closer to Lizetta and leaned in slightly to look at Joy in her arms.

"Joy is my little savior. Liz, can I hold him?"

Seeing Joseph lick his lips nervously after asking, Lizetta's eyes crinkled in a warm smile.

"Joy, this is your Uncle Joseph. Do you want to play with him for a bit?"

Joy had been to the Dashiell family estate before and had met Joseph.

But back then, Joseph didn't know the boy was Joy. Because of the feud with the West family, he had heavily disliked the child he thought was Ron and completely ignored him.

Joseph had been a moody teenager with clear-cut likes and dislikes. But little Joy had wanted nothing more than to play with the big brother.

He had approached Joseph several times, only to be met with a cold shoulder and fierce glares.

Now, Joy took one look at Joseph, wiggled his little butt, and buried his face into Lizetta's chest, leaving Joseph staring at the back of a tiny, dark-haired head.

Joseph looked heartbroken, awkward, and a bit helpless. He glanced at Lizetta.

"Liz, I wasn't very nice to him back at the estate. What if he's still mad at me?"
