Lizetta looked up at Remington. "Alright, how exactly do you want me to pay you back? I'll cook you a nice dinner myself."
Remington was still injured. Lizetta figured that once Joy fell asleep, she could sneak back to Oakridge Heights, cook a proper, nutritious meal for him, and bring it back to the hospital.
Firstly, she wanted to take care of him and help his wound heal faster. Secondly, it was her way of thanking him for bringing their son back safely.
Remington's eyes flickered slightly. In the past, Lizetta used to cook for him all the time.
She had even learned how to cook just for his sake. He hadn't appreciated it back then, but over the past year, there had been countless times when he desperately missed his wife's home-cooked meals, or even just the coffee she used to brew. The nostalgia had been overwhelming.
Come to think of it, he hadn't tasted her cooking in almost a year.
Her offer was incredibly tempting, but...
Now that she was back by his side, he had the rest of his life to eat her food.
Remington leaned in closer. "You want to cook for me and take care of me? Save it for when I'm discharged and can actually help you out in the kitchen."
He reached out, gently rubbing one of her hands before bringing it to his lips for a soft kiss.
"As for this time, I want you to..."
He leaned closer and whispered two words into her ear. The warm, seductive breath tickled her skin, sending a jolt straight to her heart.
Lizetta's ears burned red. She shot him a fierce glare.
What on earth was he thinking? They were in a hospital room, he had a bullet hole in his shoulder, and he still had the nerve to suggest something that intimate.
Paying him back in bed? In his dreams! She wasn't going to entertain his nonsense.
Lizetta shoved Joy straight into Remington's arms.
"He's the one who offended you. Settle your score with him."
She didn't believe for a second that Remington would actually hit a baby for not saying 'Dad'.

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
