He briefly pulled back, his warm lips teasing the plump curve of her upper lip that had swelled from his kiss. His voice was dark and raspy.
"It does hurt. You should rub it for me."
Lizetta's mind spun. His gunshot wound was on his shoulder. Even though it had scabbed over, the tissue underneath was still healing. She couldn't just rub it because it itched.
A second later, the true meaning of his words hit her, and her face flamed completely crimson.
By the time they emerged from the bathroom, nearly an hour had passed.
Joy was still fast asleep, his little backside sticking up in the air. Lizetta was mortified, convinced they had been way too loud in the bathroom and terrified they had woken him.
Remington had carried her, murmuring soft coaxing words, promising he would be fast and assuring her he was keeping an ear out for the baby. That was the only reason she had...
Such a liar. That man was completely shameless.
Seeing that Joy was still sleeping peacefully, Lizetta let out a massive sigh of relief before shooting Remington a venomous glare.
Remington, looking thoroughly satisfied and wearing a devastatingly handsome smile, ignored her glare. He wrapped an arm around her waist, led her to the couch, and coaxed her to lie down.
"Weren't you just complaining about your lower back? Lie down. I'll massage it."
Her entire body felt weak and sore. Since he was eager to serve, she certainly wasn't going to refuse.
She lay on the couch, resting her head on his lap. His large, warm hands settled on her waist, kneading with expert, gentle pressure.
A lingering, rosy flush still painted Lizetta's cheeks. Remington watched her from above, his gaze darkening all over again.
Having tasted her, he found himself craving more. The location hadn't exactly been ideal.
Because she was worried about Joy waking up and anxious about aggravating his shoulder wound, she hadn't been fully cooperative, requiring endless coaxing to give in.
But honestly, that had brought its own unique thrill.
Lizetta knew him entirely too well. Spotting the dangerous gleam in his eyes, she immediately changed the subject to distract him.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
