Startled, Lizetta instinctively ducked down.
Inside the ward.
Kimberley had the distinct feeling that someone was watching them. Assuming it was just a passing nurse, she glanced toward the window but saw no one.
She gently set the little girl down. "Candy, play by yourself for a minute. Mommy needs to make a phone call."
Candy obediently nodded and trotted off. Kimberley walked to the door and pulled it open.
But the hallway was completely empty.
There was no one in sight.
As a former A-list actress, she had always been hypersensitive to the gaze of others.
Had she been out of the industry for so long that her instincts were playing tricks on her?
She stepped back inside and closed the door.
In the stairwell nearby, Lizetta clutched her chest, waiting for her racing heart to calm down.
It was her first time snooping on someone like this, and it was equal parts terrifying and thrilling.
She hadn't dared to show her face because it seemed Kimberley was intentionally keeping this a secret from Jerome.
Ever since the recent corporate drama, Lizetta's identity as the Madden family heiress was public knowledge.
Kimberley definitely knew her connection to Jerome. If Kimberley saw her, Lizetta worried she might panic and immediately flee with Candy.
Clutching her phone, Lizetta slipped back into Joy's room. Joy was still sleeping soundly, but Remington was nowhere to be seen.
Hearing rustling from the bathroom, Lizetta excitedly opened the door and popped her head in.
"Remington, guess what I found out..."
She froze. Remington had taken off his hospital gown and was attempting to unwrap the bandages around his shoulder and back.
Lizetta gasped in alarm. "What's wrong? Why are you taking off your bandages? Did your wound reopen?"
She hurried over. Remington turned, caught her by the waist, and pulled her smoothly into his arms.

Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
