He really did know everything!
In a flash, a hint of humiliated red crept up her cheeks from his accusation, and her eyes welled up with tears.
She looked incredibly helpless and utterly pitiful.
Jerome was never a harsh man. He rarely raised his voice. Even with people he despised, he seldom used cruel words, usually choosing to maintain a polite smile while plotting their downfall behind the scenes.

His thumb gently brushed against the reddened corners of the woman's eyes as he sighed.
"Are you still going to deny it?"
Kimberley sensed his anger, but she also felt his restraint and sudden softness.

His daughter. He actually had a daughter, and she was already so big.
His voice was hoarse. "Kimberley, I..."
Before he could finish, Kimberley gripped his arm tightly, begging him.
"I know I was wrong to hide Candy from you, but I love her so much. Can you just pretend she doesn't exist? I promise I'll take her far away. We'll never interfere with your life. Please don't tear my daughter away from me. I can't live without Candy, I..."

The readers' comments on the novel: Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington)
Does evil really triumph always above the good in this novel ? How comes Stella's evilness has no end? Does the author believes that by giving justice and importance to bad people like Stella will make this novel interesring? I am starting to lose my patience and ask when will the writer finally will realize that the protagonist is Lizetta and not Stella....
