Shattered Illusions Love Lies and Redemption (Lizetta and Remington) novel Chapter 945

Remington kissed her and suddenly spun them around.

Lizetta was already held high in his arms, and the spinning made her feel like the lights above were whirling too. The twinkling glow of the fairy lights left her dizzy, and she clung tighter to Remington's neck, pressing herself closer to him.

They ended up tumbling onto the bed, bouncing gently on the mattress.

Lizetta pushed Remington away, turning her head to catch her breath.

"What are you doing? Get off, you're squishing me."

Remington tightened his embrace for a moment before propping himself up on his elbows, hovering over her.

He didn't pull away completely, though. Instead, he stayed suspended above her, his deep eyes amused as they studied her flushed cheeks and charming expression.

"Sweetheart, did you just say you turned him down?"

He loomed over her like a mountain casting a shadow, the aura of a predator savoring its prey. Lizetta caved, nodding obediently.

"I did."

A smile flickered in Remington's eyes—so it was a comforting hug for turning someone down.

He masked his delight with an apologetic, concerned tone.

"Is he okay?"

Before Lizetta could respond, he continued.

"That was a silly question. I mean, Mr. Madden's a strong guy. He'll bounce back from a heartbreak, I'm sure. Zion City has no shortage of eligible debutantes. In fact, Mr. Madden has already been set up on a few dates by Margaret. Maybe we should help him find a match too?"

Even though Lizetta had turned Jerome down, Remington felt uneasy. Jerome was a formidable rival, and even Remington found it hard to criticize him.

If Jerome didn’t find someone soon, Remington felt he'd always be looking over his shoulder.
